~Chapter 11~

Abigail laid on her bed and peered outside. It was getting dark and Philip would be home soon. She was waiting for him to return so she could ask about the brouche. In the middle of thinking Philip came in, and , for once, wasn't drunk. Abigail sat up and positioned herself in a seductive way. "Hello Philip." She said. "Hello Abigail." Abigail patted the bed. "Come to bed with me." Philip grinned from ear to ear. He jumped into the bed and started kissing her neck. "I Love you darling." He mumbled. "And I'm sure you love me." He mumbled still kissing her neck. "Is that why you got me this?" She pulled the brouche from her bossom. Philip looked and lost his smile. "But why was it on the floor near the fireplace?" "I've never seen that in all of my years." Philip said in sheer panis. Abigail got off the bed and threw brouche. "Who is she?!" Abigail yelled. "I have no idea what your talking about." Philip then got up. "You had a women in here, now I want to know who she was." Philip slapped her across her face and made her mouth bleed. Abigail ran out of the room and Philip followed just as Abigail reached the stairs. Philip grabbed her but couldn't hold on. Abigail fell down the stairs and screamed all the way down. Philip stood there watching her fall and slowly walked down the stairs. Abigail's eyes were closed and Philip thoughted she was unconcious. "You wanna know who that brouche belongs to? One of my tavern girls. Yes I said one of, I have many girlfriends, always have. Since you havn't been around in a few weeks I've been taking them to our bedroom. Deflowering some and redeflowering most. I married you for two reasons. To be king, and to get you in bed. So far one out of the two has been great." He walked over her and smiled. "your one of the best whores I've had." Abigail opens her eyes quickly and kicks him in the crotch. She gets up and starts to run off. She is limping and an't move fast enouhg. She hobbled to the barn abd gets on her horse. She rides the horse to Luke's cottage and by then a storm had started. She tried to slowly get off the horse but instead she slid right off and into the mud. Her horse then started to butt and make a fuss. Luke, who was asleep, woke up hearing the horse and opened the door. There was Abigail in the mud tryin to get up but couldn't. Luke ran to Abigail and picked her up and carried her inside. He alid her on the bed and closed the door. He went over to Abigail who was shivering and soaking wet. He put his hands on her arms. "Abigail your freezing! We have to get these clothes off of you." She nodded and Luke helped her stand up. Luke looked at her waiting for her to take her dress off. He finally realized the she wanted him to turn around. "Oh, yes, right, sorry." He turned around. "I'll just fix the fire here, yeah." He went over to a wood pile and put two more peices of wood in the fire. He glanced back at Abigail and saw her bending over from slipping her dress down her legs. Abigail still had her under clothes on but still wrapped a sheet around her. She slowly made her way to the fire and sat on the floor. Luke helped her over. She pulled her hair out of the bun she had it in and let her hair flow down. As she did Luke saw a bruise on her face. He touched her cheek. "What happened?" "Nothing, I was being clumpsy." "It was somehintg, Abigail, tell me." She looked away. "Did he hurt you?" She started to tear up. "He did didn't he?! Where else did he hurt you?! Abigail I need to know!" "Everywhere! He hurts me everywhere! He's been sleeping around with everyone in the town, I was so naive. He slapped me, I ran, He grabbed me and I feel down the stairs. I kicked him and came here." A few tears fell from her face. Luke took her hand and whipped away her tears. Their eyes met. "Abigail, I promise he will never hurt you again, ever." They sat there for a second just looking at each other. Then they kissed passionatly. It was like heaven. Every kiss was better then the last. Luke slowly moved his hand from her hair to her back making Abigail shiver. He started to undo her underclothes slowly and Abigail helped by sliding it off. She then rook Luke's dirty shirt off and dropped it on the floor. Slowly they both became undress and they laud on the bed. They made passionate love to one anotherm they both became one. It was so different from Philip, it was full of love and trust. With Philip it just seemed like something to do. They made love for hours and slept all day. When they woke they did it more. It was starting to get dark and Abigail knew she had to go. "Luke, it's getting dark. I've been gone for a whole day, I must get back." "What back to that abuser?" "I must, I have a country to run and Mother must be worried." "So what was this? What was last night? Was it nothing to you?!" "It was love, it was wonderful." "Love you say? Wonderful?! Then why go back to him?" "Because I have to! He's my husband and there is nothing I can do to change that!" "I'll kill him. I swear if he touches you again I'll kill him!" He goes over to Abigail and puts his hands on both sides of her head. "Please don't go Abigail, please, if you love me, please don't go." "I have to." Abigail pulls away from him and walks out still weak from her fall the day before. She slowly got on her horse and road away.

~Chapter 10~

The next day Abigail set out to find Luke. She put on simple clothes of a middle class servant. She thought maybe he'd be in the tavern, but he wasn't there. Abigail looked everywher fore Luke but came up smpty handed. In a last attempt to find him, she went to where the remains of his cottage where. There, cleaning and moving the depree, was Luke. His shirt was off and he was dirty and sweaty from working in the sun. He noticed her, paused, and stared at her. "Here to blame me of murdering someone else?" He continuted working. "Yes well about that, I'm really sorry, it's just I never thought I'd see you again and so much has changed..." "Yes like my cottage." "Oh, um, that was my fault." "Did you burn it down because you hated me?" "No, and actually I didn't burn it." "Then who did?" "My husband." Luke stopped working. He just stood there, his back towards Abigail. "Your what?" "My husband Philip..." Luke started to walk towards the woods as Abigail hurried behind him. "You see, what you left my parents wanted me to get married to Philip. I didn't want anything to do with him since I was inlove with you. I needed a husband to become Queen and you were banished! So on my wedding day I was in the cottage. I was begging for forgivness, I was praying that you would come back before I had to marry Philip. Then he found me and dragged me to the church. I'm a married women and theres nothing I can do about it. Luke I'm-" Luke turns around quickly. "Your what?! Your sorry?! I came back for you Abigail! Not for my cottage, not for my sheep but for you! But now I know that a women I love is a whore and she is married to another man! So thank you very much for killing mt dreams and my heart!" Luke turns back around and keeps walking. Abigail stands there shocked and upset. She starts to head back to the palace more confused then ever. The following day Abigail went back to Luke's cottage. He was working again, tryin despretely to finish his cottage as fast as pssible. He was picking up a peice of wood and Abigail ran to the other side and helped carry it. "Let go!" Luke said "I said let it go!" She let it srop and Luke dropped it as well and put his hands on his knees. "I want to help you, seeing as it was my fault." "Shouldn't you be in your precious palace with your perfect husband making royal babies?" Luke spit and whipped the sweat from his forehead. "II just want to help, keep Philip out of this!" Luke laughs and stands straight up. "figures his name is Philip, a pretty boy I gather? He probly maked you rub his feet doesn't he?" Abigail looks down and started to tear up. "No, no he doesn't." "Oh my god he does!" Luke laughs. "I just came to help, not talk about Philip." Luke realizes that Abigail was beginning to cry and he walks towards her. She moved when he got closed and went over to the wood. "All right then, let's start working." Luke stood their for awhile then went over to the other side of the wood. For weeks Abigail went there to help Luke. With every night she want Philip would bear her. Abigail hide the bruises and told no one. She knew that if she told Philip where she went that he'd kill both of them. Abigail felt her love for Philip grow less and less with each beating, and her love for Luke grew stronger. She loved Luke with all of her heart and knew him very well but felt more and more amazed by him each day. Finally after weeks of building and sweating under the hot sun, they had finished. The cottage was twice the size of the old one and much better looking. Luke added a fireplace on the far wall away from everything else. Abigail helped carve beautiful patterns of flowers in the woodwork of the bed Luke made, a table and three chairs. It was the coziest cottage you could find. When Abigail got there she was skocked at how nice it looked. She was more surprised over the sheep in the feild. Luke walked out of the cottage with a big smile on his face. "I see you got more sheep." Abigail said. "Yeah, they won't ever replace my other herd though." "Oh of course not!." Abigail giggled. They both shot each other a smile and a michevious look. "I have something for you." He reached for her hand. "Come into the cottage." Luke lead her inside. "Turn around and wait here." Abigail heard him moving away then back again. "Close your eyes." She closed them and waited. He places a necklace on her and clasped it. Abigail touched the necklace and looked down, she turned around a faced him. "Thank you, it's beautiful." "Your beautiful." They kissed. What was only a few seconds took them both back to the year before they were seperated. They stopped and held each other tight. Abigail held back the tears and sighed. "I have to go." She said still holding onto him. "Please, stay." "I can't." She pulled away slowly and looked into his eyes. She turned and walked out of the cottage. She knew that if she stayed she wouldn't leave. She ran off to the palace and left Luke behind. She went into her chamber and leaned against the door. She sighed and stood near the fireplace. As she looked down she noticed a woman's brouche. She picked it up and looked at it. It wasn't hers.

~Chapter 9~

Abigail jumpsed up and looked straight at Luke. Luke's face had a never ending smile and Abigail was speechless. "Well, I thought you'd be happier to see me." Luke said in disappointment. "I am, it's just..." "You havn't seen me in awhile? So your shocked but happy, works for me." Luke goes to kiss Abigail, she backs away from him. "A lot has changed since you've been here." She said look at her feet. "So I've heard. Your Father passed, you must of been devistated, I'm sorry." He tries to hold her and she backs away from his once again, this time more forceful. "And if it wasn't for you I would have talked to him before he passed." "Abigail..." He reaches for her. "No! It's your fault I put stress on my Father's heart! You might as well of killed him with a dagger! Either way it's your fault!" "Abigail!" He cried out as she ran away with tears running down her face. Luke didn't know what to do. He still loved her very much and didn't want to hurt her in anyway. He feared that no matter what he did she would always be hurt. Later that night Abigail was sitting in her chamber and thought about the days surprising arrival. Her Mother knocked on the door and slowly began to come in. Abigail wiped her tears away and faced her Mother. "Abigail, honey, are you alright? One of the servants said you were awefully upset today." "Yes, I'm fine Mother." "Are you positive?" "Yes of course, why would I be upset?" "I havn't got the slightest clue, except maybe the fact that they also saw you with another man." "oh, is that right?" "Yes" Theres silence. "Abigail, if you want to have an affair..." Abigail cuts her off. "You thin I was having an affair?! Mother I was laying there thinking of my husband and there out of no where appears Luke!" "Luke?" "Yes Luke!" Abigail covers her head in her hands."I thought he was banished." "Well, since your father was the one who banished Luke, and you Father is dead, technically he's not banished anymore." "What do I tell Philip?" "Tell him nothing, you know how he gets." She kisses Abigail's forehead. "It's going to be alright, don't worry so much." "Don't worry so much?!" She pulls away and stands up. "Mother, before Father found us, Luke proposed to me and I accepted. For me to tell him that I am married ,and actually inlove with Philip, it would just kill him." She goes to the window. "Or tell Philip and Philip would want to kill Luke. Either way it would end up horribly." "So your just looking out for the one you love?" "Yes exactly." "That's very admirable to want to keep Luke safe." "Yes well I love him, I always-wait a minute, you tricked me!" "You can't fool a heart inlove my dear. Your still inlove with Luke, very understandable." She stands up and goes to Abigail. "But you have a husband and a country to rule soon, if your going to pull a scandal do it before your Queen." He Mother smiles and leaves the room. Abigail goes to her vanity and opens a drawer. Inside was a wooden box with a lock on it. She set it on the vanity and pulls a key out of her bossum, she unlocks the box and picks up a small peice of clothe. Abigail unfolds it and reveals the ring Luke gave her. She puts it on and sighs. Just then the door starts to open and Abigail hurried and put the box away. Philip enters half drunk of rum and smells of the tavern. "Why hello Abigail!" Philip slurrs. "Hello Philip." "I've had a hard day, mind rubbing my feet?" He jumps on the bed and kicks his shoes off. "I'll call in one of the maids." She stand up and walked passed the bed. Philip grabs her wrist. "I asked you to do it, not some dirty maid." She looks at him saying nothing. "Now you get down there and rub my feet," He pushes her down to the ground. "or I'll do what I did the other night. You remember what happened don't you?" Abigail shakes her head. "Do it now!" Abigail starts to rub his smelly feet. "Now that's much better." Philip said grinning. Abigail hated when Philip came home drunk. Everything he got drunk he would be forceful and demanding, but she couldn't refuse him. She loved him and knew there was a better side to him, if only she could get him to stop drinking, but how? Abigail had no friend and she couldn't talk about it to her Mother. As she rubbed his feet she tried to think of someone to talk to. "Luke" She thought. She was still inlove with him but this gave her a reason to talk to him. Also to tell him about her marriage. She would talk to Luke tomorrow about her marriage trouble, but where would she find him?

~Chapter 8~

Her Father had died. She had not spoken to him in such a long time, and now he's gone. As the day went on and the next few days progressed, the Kingdom mourned and preperations for Philip's and Abigail's commencement had begun. Someon had to take the thrown and since Abigail was the hair, she would be Queen. This also meant that Philip would become King and rule the Kingdom. Abigail knew this was not a good idea, but he was her husband and she had to be loyal, for her Father. Abigail began to feel lonely and volnerable and the only one there was Philip. He was kind, considerate, and respectful. He brought her flowers everyday, rubbed her back when she cried, and watched her sleep to make sure she was safe. Abigail was falling inlove with Philip. One night, a few months after the King's death, she laid on their bed and stared at him by the fire. "You don't have to sleep on the floor anymore." Abigail said as he turned facing her. "Yes I do, I don't want to impose." He said. "You wouldn't be, please, come on the bed." She smiled at himand pulled the blanket down. Philip got off the floor and laid on the bed facing her. "You Know." Abigail said gazing at him. "After what happened with Luke, and my Father, I never thought I could love another man. But I was wrong-" "Abigail, you don't have to you-" "I want to, I love you Philip."They kissed and at that moment she knew he was truely the one. The next morning she ran downstairs and hummed all the way into the kitchen. Her Mother was there instructing a new maid, who was very pretty and the same age as Abigail. "Why, Abigail!" Her Mother said in delight. She grabbed her Mother's hands. "Oh Mother I'm so happy! And, Inlove!" She giggled and ran off. "Inlove?!" Her Mother said inconfusement. Abigail went outside to the garden and stopped to smell the flowers. She sighed and ran to a feild full of dandy lions. She laid down on her back and let her hair out of the bun she had it in. It flowed around her and onto the grass. She reached her hands out to both sides of her and smiled. She closedher eyes and saw Philip's face. She thought about the other night and kept smiling. She was so deep in thought that she didn't realize that someone was standing over her. "Better be thinking of me." A man said. Abigail thought it was Philip and opened her eyes with a happy expression on her face. As soon as she saw the man her smile dropped to a shocked state. It was Luke.

~Chapter7~

After the wedding they had a big party to celebrate in the ballroom. Abigail sat at the head table sulking. Everyone else in the ballroom was dancing and singing, and many were getting drunk. Her parents didn’t pay any attention to her and nor did her new husband. Philip was off getting drunk and dancing with other women. Just when Abigail thought she was going to fall asleep Luke’s brother walked to the table where she was. “Not having fun Princess?” Abigail looked at him a little startled. “I’m just here to tell you that Luke still loves you. I recently visited him and you were all he talked about. He asked about you and how you were, and I just couldn’t find the courage to tell him you were getting married. Just remember that he still loves you.” He walked off without giving Abigail a chance to speak. Abigail got up and ran to him. “Wait! Sir Please! Wait!” He stopped and turned around. “If you see Luke, please tell him that I still love him as well, and give him this to remember me by.” She handed him a handkerchief from her bosom. He nodded and left Abigail standing there, her hand still stretched out. She then slowly walked back to her seat and sat down. If Luke still loves her then there is still a chance of them to seeing each other again. But how? The party ended and all the drunks went home. Abigail started up to her room to get some sleep. She was only a few steps away from her room when Philip pulled on her arm. “Where are you going my dear? We are married now we can sleep in the same room.” “I’m going to my room alone, I refuse to sleep with you. It’s bad enough I have to sleep in the same castle as you.” Philip squeezed harder on her arm. “You will sleep with me Abigail.” “I WILL NOT!” Abigail pulled away and ran into her room. Philip was to drunk to chase after her so he left her go. Abigail threw herself on her bed and cried wishing she could get away. She knew she couldn’t because one day she would be Queen. Six months past and Abigail and Philip have never slept in the same room. After every day of hearing Philip complain everyone in the palace could take no more. At supper one night Philip was going on as usual and the King could not take anymore. “Abigail we have been married for six months now and we have never slept in the same bed, not even in the same room. I have barely touched you. I think I have the right to exercise my rights as a husband!” Philip spit out as he ate his pork. “That’s enough Philip! You will not talk about such things in front of ladies!” The King screamed. “I’m sorry Father but I can’t take it anymore!” Philip screamed back. The King slammed his fists down on the table and stood up. “I’m sorry but Abigail you are sleeping with Philip tonight! I can no longer hear him day after day complaining and whining!” The King said with such a rage that everyone but Abigail was speechless. “Daddy this isn’t fair! I don’t even love him!” Abigail said with tears in her eyes. “Abigail this is not a debate you will sleep with your husband! I am no longer giving into you! You are a grown woman now and married and I’d like to see grand children before I die!” “But Daddy!” Abigail pleaded. “THAT’S FINAL ABIGAIL! YOU WILL…” The King stopped talking and grabbed his chest. He couldn’t speak and he then fell to the ground. “STEPHAN!” The Queen cried. The guards came and carried him to his chamber and they called for the doctor. Everyone crowded outside of the room, except for the Queen, worried of what has happened to him. The doctor came out of the chamber shutting the door after him. “I’m afraid it’s not good. He’s had a heart attack and he may never recover.” The doctor left the palace as everyone grieved. Abigail felt horrible, she hasn’t talked to him for over a year and a half and she has just yelled at him. She ran into the chamber and hugged her Father. “Daddy I’m so sorry! It’s all my fault, if only I was a better daughter!” She cried mumbling her words. “Abigail, he can’t hear you, he can’t hear anyone…” The Queen said with sorrow. Abigail stayed there the night worried about her Father. As the doctor said he may never recover and Abigail still thought it was her fault. The next day she spent the whole day with him. Her Mother stayed as well but she didn’t eat anything all day. Abigail wanted to obey her Father so she final slept in the same bed with Philip. A year later Abigail sat next to his bed and read him the bible. She stopped for a slight pause and he started to speak to her. She put the book down. “MOTHER!” Abigail screamed. ”Daddy, what is it?” “Abigail,” He smiled. “I love you.” He slowly reached his hand up to her cheek and it feel fast. King Stephan had died. The Queen ran in right when he put his hand up to Abigail and screamed when she learned that he had pasted away. Abigail just stood there looking at him as tears started to flow. Philip ran in and held Abigail, but she just keep looking at her Father.

~Chapter 6~

Through out all the wedding plans Abigail tried to forget about Luke. Everything she did reminded her of Luke. She was getting worse with each day. As time drew nearer to the wedding she would disappear and not be found until nightfall. Her Mother started to worry about her. "Stephan, I'm worried abut Abigail, she is disappearing all the time, and the wedding is a week away and she still has not been fitted for her dress." The Queen said as she looked out of the window. "Don't worry so much, she will be fine. Don't you remember when we got married?" "I did not hide! I was stung by a bee that morning and my face swelled up!" She stood in protest. The King laughed and gave her a kiss on the forehead. Philip walked in with rolled up papers in his hands. "Good morning! I have plans here for the Kingdom." He said loudly. "Not Now Philip..." The King said as Philip slammed the papers down and rolled them out. "I figure we can put a palace here for me and Abigail then take down that God awful cottage of Luke's. Then extend the village. Then..." He spoke fast. "Philip, until you are King keep your plans to yourself son. My heart can't take it right now. Wait until then my boy." "Fine." He grabbed his papers. "I will see you at supper." He stormed off. "There is something not right with him." The Queen said as Philip shut the door. "He's just excited, Margaret." "I'm not sure, what is Abigail is right? Maybe they shouldn't marry." "Now Look who's catching a fright." He laughed "Oh, Stephan." She laughed a little. A few days later the streets in the village were buzzing of the wedding. Abigail's parents got everything ready for the big day. They got caterers, florists, and guest from all over. The wedding was later that day and Abigail was still sleeping and her parents decided to let her sleep. When Abigail woke she found all kinds of flowers surrounding her and she sneezed. She was allergic to lilies and her room was more then half way full of them. She started sneezing and left her room and went downstairs to the dinning area. There were so many people in the palace and Abigail was still in her nightgown but she didn't mind. She was still sneezing and looking for her Mother. "Mother!" She cried throughout the house. Abigail walked into her Mother's room and found her staring out of the window crying. "Mother? What's wrong?" The Queen turned around and wiped her tears away. "Oh nothing dear, don't worry about me. What do you need?" "No Mother, what's wrong?" She went over to her. "Oh Abigail it's just, you are so grown up now and your getting married today." She smiled but Abigail still feels like there is more. "Abigail I just want you to make the right choose, I can't help but think that maybe this isn't a good idea." "Oh Mother, this is the right thing to do, it's good for the Kingdom." "No Abigail, no." She grabbed her hands and held on tight. "Is this right for you?" "Yes Mother." Abigail knew she was referring to Luke. She started to walk towards the door. "What did you want honey?" "Oh nothing Mother." She walked out of the room and leaned against the door after she closed it. She sighed almost in tears. Just when she had just gotten over the fact that she would never be with Luke again, her Mother brought it up. A chamber maid walked by and bowed to Abigail. "Princes." The chamber maid said. "Miss, would you please remove the lilies from my chamber? I am allergic to them and they are all over. Give them to the village on behalf of my parents." She ran off to do her task and Abigail watched her walked away. Abigail then ran off in her own direction and out of the palace. Hours later the wedding was about to begin but Abigail was nowhere to be found. They looked all over the palace for her and told the villagers to be on the look out for her. Philip was standing at the head of the altar waiting for her and started to get impatient. All of the guest were there and were talking very loudly. Philip did not know she was missing and stormed over to the King. "Where is she!?" Philip said in a rage. "She is not here. No one knows where she is." The King said with disappointment. "Is anyone looking for her!?" "Yes of cours, they have been looking for hours." Philip stood there steaming. "I know were she is." Philip walked out of the church and snapped his fingers at some guards. They all got on their horses and Philip rode away. They rode through the village and went to Luke's cottage. They got off their horses and Luke slammed the door open. Abigail was there lying infront of the fireplace crying. "Hello Darling." Philip said with anger in his tone. Abigail stood up fast and looked at him. "Did you forget what today is Abigail?" "No, I have not." "Then what is today Abigail?" She said nothing. "WHAT IS TODAY ABIGAIL!?" He grabbed her arm and squeezed it hard. "Our wedding day." "What!?" "Our wedding." "That'z right, our wedding." He still held on to her arm and walked to the door and pushed her out. "Burn it down." He said to one of the guards. He then walked out of the cottage and grabbed Abigail taking her to his horse. The guard went to the fire and grabbed a piece of wood that was burnt only at one end. He started to set everything in cottage on fire and the cottage soon started to burn down. The guard ran out with the others and got on their horses. Abigail started to run towards the cottage screaming. Philip grabbed her and tried to put her on his horse. She kicked and screamed but soon enough Philip got her on the horse and rode off. When they got to the palace Philip made her go to her room and put her dress on. He grabbed a chamber maid and told her to help her and to make sure she does not get away. Abigail put on her beautiful white gown with a very long vail. She looked just like her Mother and so beautiful. She opened the door and Philip grabbed her once again to go to the church. They arrived at the church and Philip was still holding her arm strongly. They went into the church and as soon as they saw the guests he let go of her and linked arms with her. They slowly walked down the aisle. Abigail was crying but no one could tell because of her vail was over her face. They finally reached their destination and then started the ceremony. By the time she was to kiss Philip her tears had dried and her face was all red. This was it, with this kiss the rest of her life was over, and she knew it to.

~Chapter 5~

The next day Abigail got up and got dressed. When she went to her door to leave for breakfast she saw the note. She bent down and picked it up. She took the flowers and smelt them, she smiled in approval. She put the flowers on her desk and began opening the letter. The letter read: Princess Abigail, I know you loath me because you think I want to take the place of Luke. This is not my intentions at all. I know how much you loved Luke and I could never take his place in your heart. All I ask of you is to give me chance. Our parents thought we would make a good King and Queen together and I want that chance to see if they were true. We owe it to ourselves and our country to marry and be happy. Would you rather marry me or be alone for the rest of your life? You cannot rule a country by yourself. So Princess Abigail, I extend my hand in marriage and hope you except. I will be waiting. Your Future King, Prince Philip Abigail grew a small smile after reading it and set it next to the flowers. The note was sweet but made her alittle upset. Simply because she is a Princess she isn't allowed to marry for love. She has to marry some man she just met and run a country with him. She thought this was unfair and didn't know what to do. She could run away and try to find Luke, or she could marry Philip and maybe be happy. She stayed in her room untill night fall. She had paced her room all day thinking of what to do. She had not eaten all day so she finally lefted her room and went down to the kitchen. When she got down there the kitchen was already lit with candles and someone was humming. She walked slowly and looked into the kitchen. She then pressed her back into the wall and gasphed. It was Philip cooking some stew. She was so hungry but she did not want to face him yet. She started to go back to her room. "Who's there?" Philip said. Abigail stopped walking and didn't say a word. "Is that you Abigail?" "Yes." Abigail said turning and going into the kitchen. "Yes it's me." She blew out her candle and set it down. She could not look into his eyes she was to nervous. "Did you get my letter?" Philip asked tending to his stew. "Yes, I have." "And have you read it?" "Yes, I have." "I thought you had when I was told you would not come out of your room." "Well I had a lot to think about and didn't want bothered." "And did you think?" "Yes, I did." "Have you an answer?" There was a pause. "You know Philip you can't just write something like that to someone and expect..." Philip kissed her not letting her finish. She pushed him away. "I had a mind to say yes to you tonight but I can now see that you are nothing but a pig and I will not marry a pig!" She starts to storm off when Philip speaks and she stops to listen. "Can you think of no one but yourself?! What about your country what about your parents?! Luke is gone Abigail, and he is not coming back. I am the next best thing and you know it. I'm sorry I kissed you I was out of line but how could I not? Look at you, your so beautiful, and so cute when your angry. I just want to know you." Abigail could not bare no longer to let him go on. She raises her hand. "Stop, you have made your point. I will marry you Philip, but not because I like you, or feel bad for you. I'm doing it for my parents and my country. We will announce it tomorrow." Abigail goes to her room leaving Philip to smile and dance around the kitchen. All Abigail can do is cry. She knew it was true, she only thought of herself. And as for Luke he was never coming back. She has been fooling herself the past year thinking he'd come back for her. She then became angry that Luke never fought for her like Philip fought for her hand in marriage. She vowed then and there that if Luke ever did come back she would treat him like any other man that was not her future husband. The following day her and Philip went to her parents and told them she had finally agreed to marry Philip. Of course they were thrilled and wanted everyone to know the good news. They announced to the village that there was to be a ball in honor of their engagement. The night of the ball Abigail sat in her room looking into the mirror. She wore a long red flowing dress with a rob to match. Her hair was half up and as usual curly with her crown ontop of her head. She frowned at herself. Even thought she knew she'd forget about Luke in any romantic way she thought she was betraying him. She moved Luke's engagement ring to her right hand and looked at it. Just then there was a knock at the door. "Abigail, are you ready they are waiting for us." Philip said through the door. "Yes, I'm ready just a moment please." She wipped a tear from her face and stood up. She opened the door and slipped her arm under Philip's. They walked to the ballroom and waited to be announced. "PRINCE PHILIP AND PRINCESS ABIGAIL!" A man said as horns started to sing. The doors opened and they walked forward towards the thrown. She smiled and so did Philip. There was something about their names being put together and all those people cheering for them that felt right. They reached the throwns and sat down. There her parents were waiting for them. As the night went on Abigail began to cheer up. She danced with her Father the whole night and had more fun then she has had since Luke left. Although Abigail and her Father no longer talk to each other, she knew he was proud. It was then time for Philip and Abigail to dance together. Everyone stepped aside and let them dance. "Are you having fun?" Philip asked. "I am, I didn't expect it." "Well I'm glad your having fun." "Philip, why do you want to marry me?" "It's only right." "Oh, I see." "And I've been inlove with you since the first time you told me you'd rather bath with pigs then let me take you to the palace." Philip looks away and Abigail laughs. "I'm sorry about that, but it was funny." Abigail kept laughing and then her and Philip got close to each other and she stopped. Philip kissed her lightly on her lips. Abigail blushed and smiled. They danced untill the ball was over and then went right to bed they were so tired from dancing all night. Abigail was happy although she thought she would be miserable. Maybe Philip is her one true love after all. "Perhaps Luke was a practice." Abigail thought. All she knew was she was gettin married to a kind Prince and she would be Queen in a few years. And she was fine with that, because finally she was happy.

~Chapter 4~

Abigail woke up the next morning and got dressed right away. She hoped that Luke would be in the cottage and it was all a dream. She went out of the palace without her cloak and not caring if her parents saw. At the front gate the guards would not let her leave the palace untill her Father came outside and told them to let her go. The King knew he wouldn't be there and saw no harm in letting her go there once more. Abigail ran to the cottage and pushed open the door. She saw no sign of him there. The fire had been long burnt out and all of his belongings were gone. She went outside to see if his sheep were still there, they were not. She was to mad to even think about crying and made her way back to the palace. She slammed open the door to her parents chamber. "Where is he?!" She said to her Father. "Abigail not now." Her Father said staring her down. "Yes now Father! What have you done with him?" There was a slight pause before her Father answered. "Let us have this room." All of the people walked out of the chamber curious about what they were talking about. Her Mother stayed behind thinking she was allowed to stay. "Margaret, This is between me and Abigail." Her Father said. "But I don't understand." "Why can't Mother stay?" Abigail said. "It is between me and you Abigail. I'm sorry Margaret." "No I understand." The Queen walked out of the chamber and closed that door slowly. "Well Father where is he?" Abigail said "He's gone forever. I told you you would never see him again" "Where did you send him to?" "I sent him as far as his feet can carry him." Abigail gave her Father a look as if she were to kill him. Without a word she went to her room and started packing her things. She wanted to go after him. She wanted to tell him that she loves him and will stay with him forever no matter what. She then went to the stable and grabbed her horse. She loved this horse, it was her friend when she had none. The horse's name was Snow because he's pure white and when he was born it was snowing. She gave her horse a hug and a kiss and got on him. They raced toward the village and asked everyone if they saw which way he went, no one knew. Just when she was setting off in any direction she thought would take her to him, her Father's trusty guards came after her. She kicked Snow and they went running hoping they could out run them. Eventually the guards caught up and tied her horse to theirs. They took her back kicking and screaming the whole way. Abigail grew tired and fell asleep. As time past Abigail started to give up on ever seeing Luke again. She knew her parents were setting up an arranged marriage but Luke was still in her heart. She knew he always would be but tried to forget about him so many times. She grew closer to her Mother and told her all about Luke. Her Mother didn't speak to her husband for a week and then forgave him. Abigail never spoke one word to her Father after that day and planed on keeping it that way. A year later her parents finally found the perfect Prince for Abigail. His name was Prince Philip and he was from England. He had four older brothers and had no chance at the thrown. He was very educated and charming, just what they thought Abigail needed. Prince Philip was to arrive on the same day that Luke proposed to Abigail. Abigail wanted nothing to do with him and refused to see him. She sneaked out of the palace and went to Luke's old cottage. It still smelt like him and ashes from the fire were still there. Abigail closed her eyes remembering that day. She began talking as if he were there and pretended to clean the cottage. She pretended that they were married and she were no longer a Princess. As she talked and cleaned the door squeaked open. She stopped and looked at the door frightened. A man with dirt blonde hair and hazel eyes walked in and had a smile from ear to ear. "Who are you and what are you doing here?" Abigail said as if it were her home and he were intruding. "I am Prince Philip." He took his hat off and bowed at her. "Your Father said I could find you here." "Well you found me now will you excuse me." She walked past him and started for the palace. Philip leaned against the door frame facing her. "I brought my horse dear Princess, let me ride you back to the palace." "No thank you I'd much rather bath with pigs." "And I much rather you come with me. Who knows what kinda of hethans are around." Abigail turns around and Philip walks towards her. "I don't know what kind of hethans you have where you come from but I promise you my village has none." Abigail says feeling offended "Well maybe not but I'd feel much better if you let me take you." He takes her hand and kisses it. She pulls her hand away and whips it on her dress. "No thank you Prince Gill." She turns and starts walking away once more. "It's Prince Philip." "Your name is of no importance to me." Prince Philip sighs and gets on his horse. He passes by her and goes back to the palace. When he gets there he goes to the dining table and sits down with the King and Queen. "Where is Abigail?" The Queen says looking around. "She wouldn't let me ride her back, I tired but she just insulted me." Philip said. The King laughs. "That's my daughter." "Just give her time. It was a year ago when Luke left and she's still taking it hard." The Queen said to Philip. Before Philip went to see Abigail her parents told him the whole story. Philip fell inlove with her as soon as he saw her and wasn't planning on giving up. Philip was one of those people who wouldn't stop untill he was did what he was set out to do. This was not why Abigail's parents wanted them to marry. They have been fighting with England for a long time and hoped this marriage would save their country. Abigail walked through the dining area and sat down. She looked over at Philip and got up. "I suddenly lost my appetite." She gave Philip the look of death and then left. "Why does she hate me so? She doesn't even know me." Philip said. "That's why she doesn't like you. You want to sweep her off her feet yet you know nothing of her. Try to talk to her, be her friend, not her lover. She will learn to love you but give her time." The Queen said. Philip excused himself and went to his room. He went to a writting desk that was in his room and pulled out some paper. He inked his feather pen and started writting a letter for Abigail. He went outside and got some flowers before giving her his letter. He tied it with a bow and slipped the flower inbetween. He then slid it under her door and went back to his room.

~Chapter 3~

From that day on she went to his cottage everyday. For months they laughed, cried, and yell at each other but nothing could seperate their love. Luke knew she was the one and wanted to share his life with her. He always had the thought of what if she doesn't feel the same but always talked himself out of it. One day Abigail was talking to her parents before going to the cottage to see Luke. Her parents gave her a rather big shock. "Hello Mother, Hello Father." She kissed them on the cheek she always did. "I'll be in the garden again today, I'm learning how to plant flowers this afternoon." She smiled hoping they wounldn't notice she told them that every week. She turned and started walking out thinking she was safe. Just as she opened the door her Mother spoke. "Oh Abigail don't forget we are going to the village tomorrow." Abigail stopped dead in her tracks and turned around. "What would we want to go to the village for?" Abigail said trying to hold back her fear. "We have to look at the Old Shannon land, the people have been hounding us for months." Her Father said. Abigail turned and walked out of their chamber scared. What if Luke came up to her? What if someone from the village notices it's her? All of these thoughts consumed her as she walked to Luke's cottage. When she got there she saw Luke laying down on his bed sleeping. Abigail took her cloak off and sat on the edge of the bed. She stared at him, he was so peaceful, like an angel. Luke then woke up and smiled up at her. "Why didn't you wake me?" Luke asked "You looked so peaceful." She smiled but she still was worried. "What's wrong? You seem upset." "My parents just told me that we are going to the Old Shannon land tomorrow." "What's the matter with that?" "What if someone from the village notices me?!" "They won't, don't worry so much." Luke set up and kissed her forehead and rubbed her arm with his hand. She then laid next to him and felt safe. She spent the whole day there as she has done every other day. She even helped him feed his sheep that he has on his land. She was happy and didn't think she would be. She had to leave him before her parents knew she was gone so she kissed him goodbye and told him she would see him tomorrow. She run back to the palace and then return to her bedroom. The next morning she had to wear her fancy dress to fit the look of a Princess. Her parents hurried her because she took her time hoping they would just leave her. They sent her maids in and got her dressed. This did not please Abigail one bit. They got into the carriage and started to the village. Her parents waved out the windows but she just sat there hoping no one would see her. They arrived at the Old Shannon land and got out. She thanked the Lord above that no one was there. Her parents did what they came to do and were ready to go back into the carriage. All of a sudden all of the villagers came to the Old Shannon land and started talking to her parents. She thought they were going to yell at them but they were very civil. Abigail backed away from all the villagers happy none of them were talking to her. Then all of a sudden a hand goes infront of her eyes. "Guess who." The voice behind her said. "I have no idea who this could be" She said jokingly "Guess." "Could it be, Luke?" He took his hand away and turned her around. She smiled and held onto his hands. She looked back at her parents and didn't even see there faces. Luke looked as well. "Let's go to my cottage." He said. "Oh I don't know, Luke, my parents might see us." "They will never know they arn't even looking for you. I have something I want to ask you." "Well alright" Abigail looks back one last time and starts running to the cottage with Luke. Little does she know her Father saw them two running off together. When they reach the cottage they close the door behind them and started kissing each other like they havn't seen each other for years. Luke then stops. "Wait I want to ask you something." Luke said "What is it?" Luke pulls out a ring and gets down on his knee. Abigail's eyes light up with shock. "Abigail, I love you so much and couldn't see my life without you. My darling, will you marry me?" Abigail's mouth drops and she began to cry. "Of course I will!" Luke puts the ring on her finger. "This was my Grandmother's, I hope you like it, it's not as fancy as your used to." "No I love it." They look each other in the eyes and then start kissing as if there were no tomorrow. Luke picks her up and lays her down the bed and gets on top of her. They are still kissing and they start taking each others clothes off. One peice at a time. Just when it was getting very serious and very romantic there was a pound on the door. They both looked at the door frightened. Before they could do anything her Father busted through the door and saw them two totally unclothed together. "GUARDS!" Her Father said with such anger. The guards came in and grabbed Luke from her and took him outside. Abigail got up and wrapped a blanket around her. She ran outside to find the guards beating on Luke. "STOP! NO YOUR HURTING HIM! STOP IT!" Abigail screamed. She cried and fell to the floor. Her Father threw her clothes at her and told her to get dressed. Abigail sat there awhile untill they took Luke away. She then went into the cottage and put her clothes on. She came out and went right into the carriage. She couldn't look at her Father or even talk to him. He got in and sighed. "Abigail, I will not tell your Mother about this. He will be banished from the village forever and you will never see him again." Her Father said so clamly without raising his voice. "No! You can't do that! Father I love him!" "You don't know what love is. You will marry a Prince of mine and your Mothers choice. And you will no longer go into the village." Abigail sat there and cried the whole way to the palace. She couldn't talk to her Father and planned on not talking to him ever again. She was so upset with her Father that she couldn't even see that it hurt him so. She knew her Father wanted the best for her but keeping her from her one true love was to much. She ran to her room and slammed the door behind her. "He never pays attention to me any other time! And then when I'm in the arms of my sweet, sweet Luke he wants to take him away from me. If he would of never found out about Luke he wouldn't have a problem with it! Why does he insist of making my life the way he wish his life was?!" Abigail laid down on her bed and once again as so long ago, cried herself to sleep. While Abigail was crying Luke was being held in the dungeon. His arms were tied up on the wall and his legs chained to the floor. He just stood there unable to move wishing he could see his beloved. When all of a sudden her Father was standing right infront him. "I want you to understand that I only want the best for my daughter. She is my one and only child and I love her with all my heart. This is why you must never see her again. You will be let go before the sun goes up while she is sleeping. You are to walk away as far as your legs can take you. You will NEVER return back here again or you will be killed." Luke says nothing, he just stared at the King as if he didn't hear a word he said. "Do you understand me Lad?" The King said "No I don't, you love her, and want the best for her but when she loves another you deny her the right." "Only because you are not a Prince. I have nothing against you besides the fact that you forced yourself onto my daughter. As I said before she is my only child. She will take the thrown someday so she needs to marry a Prince, not a peasant. Now get your rest, you'll need it." Luke didn't want his rest but he slept anyway. He didn't want any harm brought to Abigail so he did as the King told him. He left the village and walked as far as he could. But he knew one day he'd return

~Chapter 2~

The next day Abigail woke up and realized she had slept in her maid's clothes and was still hugging the pillow. She got out of her bed and smiled. She was already in her maid's clothes so why not visit the village again? She went into her parents chambers once again and had the same conversation with them as the day before. She then ran out of the palace with her cloak on. "This is to easy" She thought When she reached the village she started looking around for Luke. She didn't see him and started to get worried. Her face had disappointed written all across it. She started to go back to the palace when someone tapped on her shoulder. She turned around and saw the same man she had seen the night before. Her face light up with excitment. "Hello." She said. "Hello Princess Abigail." He bowed. "Shhh! I told you not to tell anyone!" "Oh lighten up Princess no one is listening to us." "And how do you know? What if someone heard you?! I better get back to the palace." She turns back around and hurrys in the direction of the palace. Luke hurries behind her. "No one heard us will you get off your high horse. Your not in the palace anymore your in proverty land where men and women die everyday because of your Father. The last thing that is on their mind is you." Abigail turns around and slaps him. She starts off again not caring if she ever speaks to him again. "Oh come on Abigail I didn't mean it." He grabs her arm and pulls her towards him as if he were to kiss her. "Come with me to my house, no one will look for a Princess there." Although she really didn't want to go with him she went anyway. He was just to gourous to not give into. As she followed him she wondered what him intentions were. They couldn't be pure, could they? They finally arrived at a small cottage surrounded by nothing but grass. He lead her in the cottage. It was small but very nice, nicer then she thought. "Where is your wife?" She asked "I don't have a wife, I live here by myself." "Oh, you have servants?" "No, unlike some people I can't afford people to clean my house. I do it myself." Abigail trys to keep from laughing. "What's so funny?" "Oh nothing" "What?" He goes over to her, alittle to close, but she likes it. "I never would of thought that you were such a good house keeper." He leans into kiss her lips, she wants 2 say no because of what he said about her Father earlier but she hadn't the strength to. They kissed, it was so sweet, she had never been kissed before but she knew she liked it. They then made their way over to his bed and laid down. He then started 2 unlace her dress, and She started to take his shirt off. "What am I doing?!" Abigail thought. She stopped and pushed him away from her. She got up and paced the room. "I can't do this. I'm only 16 and we are not married." She said to him. "I'm only 18, and why does it matter if we are not married?" "Do you love me?" "WHAT?!" "Do you love me?" She looked him straight in the eyes. "How can I love you? I don't know you." She nods her head almost in tears. "I see." She grabs her cloak and puts it on. "Goodbye Luke." She walks out and starts for the palace crying the whole way there. "Do you love me? How could I be so dumb he doesn't even know me!" She thought the whole way to the palace. She went straight to her bedroom once again and cried herself to sleep. After that day at Luke's she hadn't gone to the Village in almost a month. She was to embarrassed to show her face. At the same time Luke was beating up on himself for kissing her. He knew he couldn't very well pound on the palace doors demanding to see Abigail so he waited for the day when she would return to the village. One day Abigail got up enough courage to go back to the village. She did the same as she did the other two days and started looking for Luke. She then realized that she shouldn't look desperate and gave up on looking for Luke. Luke wasn't expecting to see Abigail ever again so he moved on to other women. He was talking to one girl who had her breast half way out and looked as if she hadn't taken a bath for years. Luke was talking to her and adding his charm. He touched her face softly and sweet talked her. Abigail saw Luke and this girl and got upset. She didn't know what to do. Her and Luke weren't official so she shouldn't make a scene. She then grabbed the best looking man she could found and started to push herself on him hoping Luke would noticed. He didn't so she took the man down the street and made him "accidently" bump into Luke. Neither of them looked back at him but she knew he was looking. Luke then came up next to her. "Why Abigail! I havn't seen you in ages how are you?"Luke said. "I'm fine, have you met..." "Scott" The man she grabbed said. "Nice to meet you Scott, are you Abigail's husband? You know she won't kiss you if your not" She got mad and stomped away. Luke, as usual ran after her. "Oh Abigail you know I was only kidding." "Were you? I hadn't noticed." "Look Abigail, I've missed you, and I've thought a lot about you." "But Luke, you don't even know me!" "Abigail stop with the smart remarks! I'm trying to say I'm sorry here and all you can do is make fun!" "I'm sorry Luke. It's just when I saw you with that girl, I lost it." "Don't worry about her, your the only girl I want to be with. If you'll have me that is." "Of course I will" She smiles and they kiss. They spend the day together untill she has to go back to the palace. "Could this be real? Do I actually have a man? A perfect handsome man?" She thought to herself. Everytime they parted their hearts couldn't take it. And they told each other everytime as well. They were falling inlove. This love was a secret and Abigail hoped her parents would never find out. Although her parents never paid much attention to her they were very over protective. After all she is their only child and has to take over the thrown some day.

~Chapter 1~

She knew that today would be like any other but there was something so special in the air that day that she couldn't help but be cheerful. She went to her parents chambers to make sure they were there. "Hello Mother, Hello Father" Abigail said as she kissed their cheeks. "Hello Dear" They both said not looking at her. They just sat there doing paper work and talking to the men around them. "Are you two going to do this all day?" She asked "Of course we are the sooner we get this rubbish over and done with the better."Her Father said. "Well Ok, I'll be in the garden all day" She said with a smile. "Have fun darling" Her Mother said. She loved her parents, but they never paid much attention to her, after all they did have a country to take care of. Her Father was a huge man with a white beard and barely any hair on his head. He loved wearing his robe and crown all day and yelling at anyone in sight. Her Mother was a beauty and she sometimes wondered how her Father ever managed to get her. Her Mother had red hair but it was starting to fade. Her Mother has sparkling green eyes that she had passed on to Abigail. She got her looks from her Mother. Abigail went out of the room closing the huge doors behind her. She ran down the hall and grabbed a hoated cloak and put it on. She then hurried outside trying not to be spotted. She then ran to the front gates of the castle and ran out. No one had saw her, she's free for the day! She walked down the street and looked at all the people, all the proverty, and all the great merchants. It saddened her to see all the people begging her for change in the streets. If she had some she would have given them some money for bread, or maybe even a chicken leg, but she had none. As she stared at all the great foods she began to feel hungry but knew she had no money to pay for it. She didn't want to go back to the palace so soon because she had never been in the village before and wanted to experience it for herself. She then took off her cloak and held it underneath her arm. She had borrowed her maid's dress so she would fit in with the surroundings. Just then someone ran into her and knocked her over. "Are you alright?" A man stood above her holding his hand out to help her up. She took his hand and got up. "Yes I'm alright, why weren't you watching where you were going?" She said. "I was..." He said nothing he just starred at her. "May I ask why you are starring at me?" "Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to. Please don't think ill of me it's just..." "No I do not think ill of you, just watch where you are going next time. Good day sir." She walked away hoping he'd follow her. He just stood there watching her. She sighed knowing nothing would come of it. He was the most handsome man she has ever seen in her life and she acting as if he were one of her servants. Just as she had given up hope he walked up infront of her. She grabs her chest. "Sir, you gave me a fright." "I'm sorry my Lady I just did not want to walk away without knowing a beauties name." "My name ,dear Sir, is Abigail, now will you excuse me" She walks around him. "Luke." She stops and turns around. "My name is Luke. You seemed to have forgotten to ask me my name." He said "I did not forget to ask you." She walks away wishing she wouldn't of been so cruel. She had been in the palace so long that she had seemed to forget how to treat people who do not work for her parents. She sees a small alley way to walk through to get to the other side of town and decides to go that way. As she starts to walk through it she starts to get scared. There were rats, garbage and it was so dark that she can't see the sun. She started to hurry but is stopped by a big tall man. "Hello there." The Man says "Hello, will you excuse me please?" "Such kindness, yet when my brother talked to you,you were mean as a snake." "Your brother?" "Luke." "Oh, him, I'm sorry Sir I did not realize." "Oh don't worry just do one thing for me and my men and we will forget all about it." Five other men come behind him smiling with rotten teeth. She starts to back up but they keep coming forward. "What would you like me to do? Clean for you? Cook for you?" Abigail says to the man. "No, we want you to be our whore. Dance for us, and pleasure us, and we'll be even." Abigail's face turns pale and she started to run the other way. The men ran after her and she is no match for the men. Luke appeared out of no where and grabbed her. "Leave her alone brother, she ment me no harm." Luke says. "Oh come on we just wanted to have alittle fun with her." "Not today, go home!" The men moan and start walking away. Luke looks down at Abigail who is holding on to him and crying on his shoulder. He picks her up hoping she won't mind. "Where do you live?" Luke asked. "Don't worry about it, I can find it there on my own." "No I'm taking you home they will look for you if Im not with you." "If I tell you, you promise not to say anything?" "Yes, I promise." "I live in the palace." Luke looked shocked because he knew that the King and Queen had a daughter named Abigail. He took her back to the front gates of the palace and by then it was dark out. He set her down on her feet. "Thank you for taking me home." "It was my pleasure." "Remember you promised you wouldn't tell." "I know I promise." "Goodnight Luke." "Goodnight Princess Abigail." She smiled and ran up to the palace. Luke watched her untill he could no longer see her and started walking back to the village. When Abigail reached the palace she went to her bedroom and laid down on her bed. She smiled and thought of Luke's blacker then black hair and his big blue eyes. He had dimples when he smiled and she adored them. She grabbed her pillow holding it as she had held Luke when he saved her. His muscles were very built and she wanted to hold on to them again. "Yes, I think I will go into the village again tomorrow." She said before she fell asleep still holding the pillow tight.
