Listening to: Cheryl Freeman - I Won't Say I'm In Love
October 25, 2008
My other 'non-date' with the brown boy, Surin.
I woke up sick. Wasn't a good start. So I decided not to...wake up. I stayed in bed until like 2pm. I did take a shower to help clear the sinuses...I couldn't decide how 'fancy' I was supposed to be for this date, as in clothes, so I just...went back to bed.
I finally got up and got my nicest 'blouse' I had. The one Grandma likes so much. My choker, my loser chuck shoes and jeans. I pulled my hair up in a messy bun just to keep it out of my face. (tells you how lazy I was) and decided to make some curlies cuz I was bored. I went over to Mindys to have some socializing before I was one on one with someone. I always need practice. Everyone at that house said I looked nice. I didn't think so. It's just a shirt and some curlies in my messy bun. Everyone seems to like the messy bun, I think it's...ew. But whadeva. If my lazy way of doing hair is like prom material for others, it works.
Surin was playing soccer and somehow got down to SLCC (the community college) so he could take a shower. He asked me to come pick him up from there. Weirdo.
I went to get him around 3:30 or 4pm.
It was cool, cuz he came out all...hot and stuff. His hair done, lookin' nice, ...smellin nice. heh And I didnt look that bad myself as I've been told.
It was awesome. We were both young and hot and on our way.
I thought driving would be stressful. And I also thought that I wouldn't be able to handle is know-it-all, cocky jackA self. I wasn't in the mood to listen to pompous stories of him an' all. So I coached myself like the 17 blocks down to SLCC. After that I was...fine. He wasn't too cocky..most of the time and driving wasn't so bad. I knew where I was going! So I dragged him to Fire House Pizza in Centerville. Boo yah baby!
He always tells the hostess seats for 1 and 1/2 people. :P I saw Jen Allen there. She didn't stop to say hi or anything, but my waitress said that Jen mentioned me. Kinda weird. Apparently her dad is part owner. Fire House has been in Centerville for like a year now. Gah! Where have I been?
Anyways, we ordered a medium of my Cordon Bleu. :D And then he pointed out Applebeer on the menu and I just had to have some. I got a lil' slap happy like I usually do drinkin that stuff.
This was a GREAT start to a date.
He only got annoying once with his inappropriate talk about other girls boobs and stuff. I just stopped talkin to him for a bit b/c he knew he was being a jackA and got all 'serious' and he took me serious and stopped, amazingly. He is a free man an' all, but theres a certain level of respect you give ANY girl yer with, whether it be friend, girlfriend or not. And checking out, flirting and constantly commenting on waitresses while on a obvious date is not respectful to me, ya know?
It felt good to forget my sickness for a bit.
He got me another Applebeer on the way out. :D
He just wanted me to get slap happy enough to kiss him.
We...okay I decided to go up to the Theatre and hang around the stores up there until show time.
We ended up in...Dick's wanderin around. He said like a dozen times he wanted to buy me something just for the sake of spending money on me or something stupid like that. Hasn't he done enough?
Then he did his usual "Is this a date?" and then I say "I dunno, yer the one that asked me out" and then he concludes the convo with a "Then this is not a date" and I roll my eyes and know he's in complete denial and we move on.
But this time he hinted that if he bought me flowers then it would be a date. Is that how it goes in his culture or something? Heaven forbid he ever thought about buying me flowers. Whadeva. Moving on with the DATE.
We got bored of that store and his insistence on buying me something and we ended up in the DI. We sat on the couches. It was well...awkward. Who ends up in the D.I. on a date? We kinda cuddled on the couch there in public not knowing where the couch had been... Only one major awkward moment was then I stood up and attempted to help him up and he pulled me down on top of him. My knees don't bend in that situation so I'm flat on top of him and he's in a sitting position. Mmmk...moving on...
We met his friends at the Theatre. Its so small! His friends were a cute, friendly couple. We got some refreshments and went to sit down. The four of us didn't get to sit together tho. The first act he had his arm around me. Its amazing how comforting just a simple touch is to me. Almost kinda sad, but still. We act like a couple and we both agreed we ain't gonna have a relationship. Interesting....
During intermission Surin went to go get a drink and I stayed...and talked to the old man next to me. Basically he compared me to his daughter that just graduated high school. He asked about my date, how the night was going, where he was from, etc. I guess it does kinda look a lil' weird, a supposed high school kid with a brown guy? I dunno what ppl are lookin at or thinkin when they see us...
Then he actually went into... religious talk. Like he assumed I was LDS and was basically giving me fatherly LDS advice about my date WHILE I was ON my date. I was surprised...shocked actually...that he would be that bold to go on as if I was LDS. Not that I'm denying it, but sheesh...in a public place, didnt even know him....I know this is an LDS dominant place, but goodness.
So after that it basically felt like my father was on the date with me watching our every move.
I still can't believe he talked about stuff like that. It wasn't bad or anything ..it was just surprising. But what he said really did stick out to me...and it was good advice and it was a reminder to me...it was something I needed to hear...it was kind of an..answer to my prayers really. I know it's weird...but he was like an angel in disguise...in an awkward way.
Anyway... Other than I had more convo with the old man next to me than my date while at the Theatre... It was an awesome show of Jekyl and Hyde. The main character was amazing. Of course, Surin would comment on the hot lil' hookers in the play. Next time he can ask THEM out instead of me.
We did some more...uh cuddling during the second act. He kept me warm. I ate skittles.
So...I think I have him charmed.
His look has changed when he looks at me.
His smile is softer, more sincere.
It's as if his thoughts are -almost- visible. And its not a perverted observation or disrespectful sentence its like he's almost going to say something... nice to me.
I like it. :D
Then the four of us went out to Cold Stone for ice cream. I had a smoothie. Cold enough! We listened to Surin talk most of the time. I didn't say much...as usual. His friends were funny and cute together. Awkward moment when the boys went to order and the girl went on and on about how cute her guy is. "Isn't he so cute? He's so funny, don't you think?" blah blah. Twitterpatted like major. I'm like "uh..." I'm not going to agree with everything she says! Like "yeah, he does have a nice butt..." Seriously...
Surin said I wasn't shy after that. That's a first. I usually get called that when I'm as distant as I was. He said I wasn't shy b/c he said his Aunt and Uncle invited us to eat with them tonight and I just asked where we were eating, as if I didn't mind if we ate with them. I want to meet them, I do. But eat....Malaysian food... eeeehh not so much.
Surin kept talkin about going to the bus stop and going home. It was like 11pm. Yeah, sweetie. I don't think so. So after much tribulation we were on our way to Kaysville to drop him off. I know the feeling, it feels weird to have ppl take you home, but Kaysville is awhile way and it was late. It was the wisest thing and I didn't give him a choice, and it felt gooood.
He held my hand as I drove. o.O I learned where he lived. It wasn't that hard to find it either. Yay for easy driving and answers to prayers. We pulled in front of the house and I sat in his chair with him fer a bit. :D I laid my head on his shoulder and pretended to sleep. It was a perfect moment fer a kiss. And he never took it. And I knew he wanted to. I could've encouraged it, but... I decided not to. It was about 11:30 or midnight when he got out. He kept repeating directions on how to get to the freeway. He really wanted to kiss me.
*does a lil' dance and chants*
"He wants to huuuggg me
He wants to hollldd meee
He wants to kisss meee"
He can deny anything and everything all he wants, but he doesn't have that strong of walls built around him. :D He's still a lil' transparent.
Anyways...I was on my way home. He called me when I got on the freeway...just to make sure. He's worrrieedd about me. Ahem.
It was a wonderful night.
What more can I ask for?
Fire House, Cordon bleu pizza
and a smoothie
It woulda been nice to end the night with a spinning hug. I love those....
