Today the office was introduced to the Print Screen button.
We'll never hear the end of this.
Patsy had to go around to each room,
"Do you know what this button does?!
Isn't is so cool!"
A few hours later...I hear down the hall
"HEy! I used the print screen button and it worked!"
or the continuing "Do you know about this button?!"
Not only that but we just got a new fax machine/copier/scanner. Yes, it's all in one. And yes, none of these ppl know how to use it. Oy.
These people worry me.
These people have been using computers for their ENTIRE career, yes I know some of them are older and did use typewriters an' all that at one point, but still, they were taught on computers at one point and have been using them fer decades since.... and they JUST discovered this button.
And then they ask ME about the programs (i.e. word perfect) that they grew up with like I know all er something. I didn't grow up learning that, I had to teach myself to even get this job! And now I'm teaching them how to use it. Oy.
And now I'm the miracle worker thas supposed to figger out the new machine???
And their worried about US being the "future".
Meanwhile I was learning the 'old fashion' way of copying (b/c we didnt have a machine hooked up at that time)... Great.
Besides that I'll prolly hear from Patsy
"Come see what the machine did!"
"Did you know it could do that?!"
"Come see what I can do!" etc etc
until next year at least...
New adventures for this office...
I'm amazed at the ignorance...
I'm also amazed at what they used to do...
And saddened that I know it will continue....
My face hurts.
Besides that the boss is his...usual self which is driving me up the wall.
I had three defaults to do, and doing bills and in the middle of all he wanted me to print out 34 envelopes, reduce and copy 6 pages down to 3, and then put 3 pages into each envelope like an hour before I get off. So I'm doing Defaults as quick as I can and attempting to get my printer to print defaults AND envelopes at the same time. And then all the folding, licking, stamping, etc. etc.
He comes in every like 10 minutes "did you get the envelopes" like my printer is just gonna pop out 34 envelopes within 10 minutes. gah. Then he's holding the envelopes and tells me to start putting the papers in them "...uh.. when you give the envelopes to me, I will."
And then I asked him to go to the bank like 4 hours ago and I hand him the stuff to take just before he goes and then he starts yelling fer me to give him the stuff. GAH. Damnit Ralph I just gave those deposits like one second ago and you lost it already!
But he'll be gone the next few weeks. Maybe I can get some things done. I hope everything goes alright with his surgery, despite how badly he pisses me off.
I hate these rush rush moments.
I can never calm down afterwards.
I'm going to go ice skating.
Ice skating until I drop.
Yes, that's what I'll do.
Thanksgiving is tomorrow.
With all the perfectionists.
In the perfectionists home.
I'll avoid the helping out part.
I'll avoid the kitchen really...
I just want to go home.
My car is packed and ready.
