Listening to: Matt Nathanson - I Saw
April 24, 2011 (Easter Sunday)
We didn't go to bed til like 2am so we slept in til 10am I believe. The boys had already gotten up and searched for the Easter eggs and were full of sugar by the time I got up. I thought church was at 11 so we took showers and got dressed while everyone else stayed in PJs. So we just watched some TV and played/listened to the two boys explain everything they found that morning. Then Mum took a shower and started getting the boys ready which we ended up doing since we were already ready to go. Brax had a tissy fit, the kind that reminds you that he's only 7, not 10 like his height suggests. Cole simply refused. "mm no" Mum is good at guilt and bribbing and finally got Brax to change. Cole doesn't care about guilt. Whatever Jesus. So Evan and I took Brax to church and Mum was either going to put Cole down for a nap or get him to come to church. They came in a bit later. I wonder how that worked out. He sat on the bench for 10 minutes and was out cold the rest of the meeting.
Then we went to Sunday school and didn't see Mum or the boys again til church was over. Aubree came to church and we caught up on things. We asked each other how our Bdays went and stuffs. We started talking about boys in RS meeting and it turns out she's been with her bf for like 6 months and known him for almost a year! That's crazy! I'm only on three months and I feel kinda freaked out. But thats exciting for her. She's doing it the right way. There was a lady that turned and asked me how school was going....I told her I'm done with school and she asks oh, when did you finish? and I attempted to count the years and juss said "since 2008".... she's like..."ooh..." awkward. haha it made me laugh.
In RS Katherine gave the lesson, for some reason I am juss enthralled with her lessons. I'm almost always paying attention, no mind wandering, and I always find/look for the eccentric things about her that actually kind of bug me and I can see the whole 'older generation judging the younger' so loud and clear through her and that kind of bugs me but its kinda fascinating to see how/what she says as if its not offensive. She's a prime suspect for people watching. Anyways, the lesson started off with "I'm glad the Bishops wife isn't here...." (I wonder if Dad knows how many lessons start off that way in this ward?) And then they pointed out that the bishops daughter was there instead. haha But she continued "I dont know what he was thinking giving me this subject on Easter, I think its an odd topic for Easter, but okay...." The lesson was on parenting. She dyed some eggs and put faces on them and handed them out to us as "babies" to be taken care of. The back row seemed to be the empty nesters, the front row seemed to have small infants and the middle seemed to consist of me and Aubree who thought the lesson was...really relevant to us. It seemed the lesson was about parents sticking to their guns (being consistent and brave) and teenagers being stupid. It was interesting to see her perspective on how to raise a child. Anywaysss...
I gave Cole one of my 'babies' to take home and told him not to drop it. And he dropped it. Dallin and Loryn was there and they gave me a pressie before starting to cook dinner. It was a shirt that said "sigh.... I hate people"... Dallin thought it fit me, said I could wear it to work. I helped with dinner by making the salad. Dallin made ham and Mum made dutch oven potatoes. mmm and devil eggs. mmm. I was in heaven, juss needed some pineapple. It was the two boys, Mum and Dad, Dal and Lor and me and Evan for dinner. Not sure where Dustin ended up. Min and Claine in CA. Mum made a chocolate cake with strawberry whipped frosting. Mmm. She's tired of the traditional cake, but I'm not! Chocolate will never go out of style. We forgot to warn Evan how our family sings Happy Bday. It was funny. Then I demanded a pressie which apparently Mum fergot she had one for me. I got pink polka dot cups and a measuring ...pitcher thing for my kitchen when I kick Min out. Of all the pressies I got... I think Loryns was the only one wrapped, well and Resas if you count cloth. :P Evan thought it was funny cuz I specifically told him 'wrapped pressies' and he tried, but no one did it right.
We ate, we chatted, we laughed. Min called and said she missed her flight by two minutes. Figgers. We got a talent now on missing our flights. Brax agreed. Evan laughed. She said the new plan was her being home at 11pm and me having to bring the boys to pick her up in the middle of the night. Pff. Not happening. I brought a boy that could help me too. So ..originally the plan was to get the boys home and in bed by nine so I could go get Min so we were to leave Logan before 7pm...but we were still eating and haven't even begun packing our stuff let alone the boys'.
We made it to SLC at exactly 9pm so it still woulda worked out. I had to go through the house looking for all the boys' stuff (that I didnt know came with them) and all the new stuff they accumulated that weekend and try and shove it in my car. Then I had to shove Evans and my stuff in there, all my pressies, and some candy and food I stole from dinner and some random bags of frozen dog treats. Good thing I didn't bring the dog. My trunk was half full already and shoving all that in I wondered why I didn't steal Mins van to bring up here, more room and I could've brought my dog. Oh well. We packed it all in there, made two more trips inside for forgotten items and we were off to trudge up the canyon!
The boys fell asleep on the way down. I was really annoyed with Evans irrelevant and random comments so we kinda stopped talking. I dropped Evan off at Gmas to get his car and he followed me home. He took Cole to the porch while I listened to Brax whine. I told him it would be time for bed when he got home so he started his whining early. He whined that it was too cold to get out of the car, I gave him a coat, he whined more so I just left him cuz I needed to open the door for Evan to put Cole down to bed before he fully woke up. I put Cole in bed and fought a bit with Braxton to get him to bed. Usually I'm fine with the whole "but mommy said" thing but I guess I was on thin ice and told him to forget mommy tonight I'm the one calling the shots. He wanted food and I wasn't going to find any for him til he got smart enough to make an easy suggestion. Cole got out of bed by then too and promptly refused to go to bed so I gave them both a cheese stick and sent them to bed. Didnt hear from Brax again.
Cole came out a lot more tired after the cheese stick so I escorted him back to bed #2 time and changed his diaper and let him sleep in Mins bed. He came out a third time into the living room and did a circle as I escorted him back to bed. No complaints on his end, again. I got him in bed and he said "blank" and then I realized I had forgotten to get his blanket for him to sleep with in Mins bed. Then I never heard from him again.
Evan was having personal frustrations and sharing them with me as we sat on the couch. There wasn't much on TV and we weren't sleeping so it was kinda...weird. Then I got up around 11pm and went to get Min. He turned out all the lights and went to sleep on the couch. I showed up at the airport at 11:07pm with Max in the back. I learned what Terminal I should've been at and we waited in the parking garage (I didn't want to wait in "Park and Wait" for an hour or so) til 11:25pm when I got bored and went inside to see if the flight came in on time (obviously not). I didn't know what airport she came from so I had no clue. Mum started texting soon after wanting to know if she was home yet and if I called her. I texted her, not called and would wait til she was ready to text/call back. I asked Mum where she was coming from so I could tell if they were at the gate yet or not and next thing I know Mum is texting Min too. Apparently she came from Vegas. Min juss barely landed as all this texting starting going... So now the communication is three way with Mum thinkin she has to relay messages back and forth between me and Min. So me and Min communicated and kinda ignored Mum fer a bit.
There was a slight crowd gathered around this "No Entry" sign so I figgered thats where the passengers come off to get their baggage. So me and my phone stared at the entrance like everyone else. By this time it was 12:36am. The intercom was announcing caraousels for other flights like Denver, but no announcements were made about Vegas flights baggage. So I juss waited and paced like everyone else. Finally I saw her shortness and her pink coat come out the gate and I showed up in front of her. Her text suggested she had baggage to pick up so I told her I was at the baggage claim, but she had all her stuff and was ready to go. She asked where the boys were and I realized we didn't do the plan she was thinking of and told her they were home asleep with Evan. You could tell she was stressed for missing her flight, rushed to get everything done that weekend, glad to be home, glad the kids were asleep, so much on her mind. Glad she wasn't driving... Then we saved the dog from loneliness and boredom. We waited in the cash line -forever- to get out of the airport, paid and went home in the rain. We got back around 12:15am and I woke up Evan and we headed to bed and left Min in her heap of bags and sleeping children. Although as I laid in bed that night I had a thought I should've checked on the boys in bed to make sure they were still there before we left Min and assuming they were there...
