Listening to: Tim Janis - O Come All Ye Faithful
So it sounds like Evan has another job. It hasn't even been a week after losing his job that he's found another one and even a manager position that he's qualified for. I knew that would happen, but it was like the end of the world for him. Granted it is off season for his line of work and hard to find ppl looking for employees. But even with a job offer he still hesitates. I dont understand.
He would make $425 from unemployment (I thought this was every two weeks?), and this job pays $500 a week. Not to mention this is the ONLY job offer he's gotten so far. His main concern is the money. Not getting enough. Not getting enough to please his ex-wife apparently. Not being able to keep his kids in dance, etc. Not enough to spend like he used to.
I don't understand. He should be grateful to have the opportunity to have a job in this economy and he's going to pick it apart because its not -enough- money? He's gonna try and be greedy and insist on getting paid what he's worth in the off season, in this economy? He's going to try and please his ex with his income when she has her own hubby to take care of her? He's only required to pay a percentage of his paycheck for child support. And whatever income he gets he gets! She said she's having issues making ends meet on the income he had before and she wants him to make more. What the hell? Who is she to dictate situations in his life he can't control and demand more money? She doesn't even have a job! Tell her to get her ass out there and make more money if she needs more money to take care her needs and HER children if her new hubby isn't cutting it! Evan is doing his part to help take care of HIS the kids! Everyone has to make sacrifices here!
You do the best you can in this economy and be grateful for what you get!! Some ppl dont even have jobs! Period! And haven't for years or maybe will never be able to get one. Some ppl don't even get unemployment! Some ppl lose their houses let alone the tragic event of dragging their kids out of the privledge of dance class! Some ppl are bankrupt because of lack of job! Some are barely floating, barely surviving because of minmium wage, but at least they are trying and getting something! And he's got more than minimum wage and seems to be complaining. Some ppl are out of a job for months, maybe years, and he gets a job offer within a week!
He's thinking about all the luxuries in life when he doesn't even have a job yet. I think he should kinda focus on the basic essentials and NOT just his children. They have another working man in their home to help take care of them. Evan has to take care of himself too! I have a feeling that if he gave them all his money to take care of his kids and he lost his rent money/apartment because of it I KNOW they would not help him out. He'd sink his own sink and be the only one to blame.
Anyways, hey he COULD prolly find a job that pays better and what he's used to if he is willing to wait and search more and hope someone in this off season is hiring, but I know his patience and anxiety and boredom will go through the roof if he waits or tries to get something better (if its even out there). I didn't really mean to badger him into this job, but seriously thats like his only option right now and that one is not as bad as no option at all, so what is he waiting for? To step into a gold mine in the off season? To step into a gold mine in this economy? To step into a gold mine simply cuz he deserves it?
He is comfortable with the work and thinks he will enjoy it. The guy he's working with is the owner and therefore he's kinda becoming a partner of some kind to help him keep his business up and running so its kind of a dream of business owning for him in a way. The guy was choosing between two guys and I guess it wasn't working out so well from the other guy so the boss offered Evan the job. So I think Evan is kind of his last hope, (but a good choice, one of the top three of course) so therefore he might be willing to do what he can to make Evan happy and keep him going ya know? And if Evan carries his weight, does his part, and is loyal that man will prolly do whatever it takes to keep Evan around when it's possible, but right now in the off season, as a private business owner, its hard to offer more money.
So if money is his only issue even though it might improve I dont understand what he's waiting for. Its more money than unemployement or nothing at all. He does have a slight concern about being bored during the winter and looking for other work and having to have a part time job just to get more money. Again, some ppl can't get ONE job and he's worried he might have to get TWO jobs. And some are working two jobs now and aren't getting paid half of what he is. If he has to get two jobs then so be it! If it conquers boredom and the money issue then two birds with one stone! Its not a tragedy. I know it seems beneath him to have to do that, but there are some VA's out there that feel the same thing when they can only get a job as a greeter in some store to pay for something that social security should be paying for or something. He did mention that I would be making more than him. I never even thought about that. Of course he did cuz he's a boy and he's worried about it. Oy.
Sometimes I juss think he gots his priorities wrong.
