Listening to: Mannheim Steamroller - Deck the Halls
The first day of snow! The mountains are covered! All white!
At the beginning of October!
Where did my fall go? I need my fall weather!
This can't be happening to me!
I endured the summer heat and it wasn't that bad for once, but I missed my long sleeve shirts, and I can't juss skip that for a coat! Regardless of the music I'm currently listening to.... I waited all summer long just so I could wear my long sleeve without a coat!
I'm supposed to go to Lagoon morrow and be...warm and have fun! It better not rain or snow morrow.
I went haunting for the first time last night for this season. It wasn't as fun as it was last year. I'm not sure why it seemed so different. Maybe cuz I was single and living closer and nothing else to do, literally. Maybe cuz I went at the end of the season non-stop and got to know more ppl. Maybe cuz I went crazy insane with all the drama they had and got used to it. Maybe cuz Brian was there to make it fun most of the time. Maybe cuz we had different directors last year. I liked that other Brian. Who knows. It just wasnt as enjoyable as I thought it would be or hoped it would be. I did get my favorite spot tho. Under the bed. I figgured it'd be a good place for the first time and on a slow night. So I could sit and rest in between screams. You wouldn't think 2.5 hours would be hard on your body or voice, but you get hot and tired an' stuff.
I was super nervous knowing that management changed, new directors, prolly new rooms in the house, different actors, etc so I wasn't hungry most of the day and didn't eat much before going into the haunt. That prolly didn't help. Then with the rain or snow that prolly came down while I was in there made my head hurt super bad, and the screaming and loudness didn't really help that issue. I felt like the dog with the shock collar by the end of the night, every time I growled or screamed my head would pound and I'd see dots and say "oooww" like I'm hung over or something. Not to mention my voice was getting close to shutting down on me. I was using lower growls than I prolly should have, but sometimes I think its stupid to scream high pitched like I'm a banshee who happens to live under the bed.
There was a mother and a daughter on top of the bed too. The girl was kinda annoying but I was impressed she could haunt for that long on a weeknight. I wasn't really impressed with their acting skills, but they did distract long enough for me to jump out.
But boy did I miss the screams....
It was kinda fun, but prolly not worth my head aching like that, but still. They put new padding down, it was like foam mattresses to sit on and they put in an air freshner so it didn't smell ...bad anymore. But if you've ever played or crawled on foam with shoes on or certain material like clothing you find you get stuck more than you can actually move. One of the first few times I jumped out at ppl I kinda tripped on my way out and I'd like fall into the ppl. I accidently fell on a girl and my hand pushed against her thigh, she prolly thought I was literally attacking her leg and she looked at me in shock like "I KNOW you are not allowed to touch us" kind of look. My bad. Stupid foam. So I spent the rest of the night piling the foam up farther away from the entrance. It did serve well with multiple attacks tho. I'd pop out and scare and just fall back to get my whole body back in the dark and then I'd use the foam like a trampoline or something to spring myself back up and scare again for multiple crowds.
I suppose my favorite, because its so vivid in my mind, was the one guy directly in front of me that I jumped at who did the quick "AH" yell that most men do and then he did this little prance/dance thing before calming down and walking again. Ppl have the flight response, but they have little room to run, so their feet.....go while in place.
I guess that brings me to a couple of running girls I liked. Its a small room, so when you can run I am impressed. So ppl have to walk right next to the bed with the mother and daughter on it, they're scared the two girls will jump at them or something so they all walk along the wall away from the bed right? So there was like four guys and one girl that came through, the girl kind of positioned herself in the middle, but with the whole bed thing she juss wanted to get away from the actors on the bed so she thought she'd juss go ahead and exit the room quickly before the actors did something to scare her. Well I saw the boys walk slowly and her feet moving fast to get to the exit. A lone fast moving target. Perfect. I jumped out and got her screaming, she turns around and runs back to the boys, back to her original place in line before she thought she could get ahead and avoid scariness. I think two of the boys whom she butted saw me and what happened to make her run back to them. I think they enjoyed that reaction.
Another one was a simple boy and girl who wasn't stuck to each other literally and she went ahead of the boy and I jumped out and she was screaming and twirled around right into his arms. It was so fast how she flew back into his arms. She didnt even know it was him for a minute. I dont think she cared. She juss wanted someone to hold her.
Sometimes when I get enough energy saved up I can lunge a little more to get them to actually backup while screaming rather than just jumping up at them. One time I lunged at two girls and they felt they had to back up so much they ended up sitting on the table in the corner of the room screaming. The younger guys mostly said the "f" word when they jumped and quickly apologized. I was impressed that they'd apologize cuz there was a little girl (4 or 5yrs) in the room. The older guys would freeze or some would jolt juss barely before moving on. I seriously think freezing is an older guy being scared now, not acting tough, or acting like he was standing still and wasn't scared. I think freezing is their scared. Then theres always the guys that freak out when their girl freaks out. They are stuck together and when she jumps and screams at me he automatically jumps and trys to keep the scream from escaping cuz she was doing a good enough job.
So the "monster-be-gone"s came into play, but I can't see them under the bed cuz they all have them plastered to their faces or chest level. I can only see the glow sticks if they are little/short kids. But these were teenage girls that came through. Three of them. And I jumped around the corner. I've decided I like the corner shots it gets the whole line of ppl instead of just the first person. The girl in the back apparently is a frozen screamer. She stood in place and screamed...and screamed. Man, her mouth was soo big. Then I saw the glow sticks. Aw, shit. But c'mon if yer almost an adult and yer that scared you shouldn't be at a haunted house in the first place, let alone trying to "tone it down" by holding a glow stick! Those are for kids man! The lady on top of the bed apologized for me. I didn't think it was necessary or totally appropriate that she broke character to apologize, but whatever, it happened.
I forgot how causual it can be in there. You could be drinking, eating candy, laying down, closing your eyes, doing your hair, in deep thought, sitting calmly etc one minute and then jumping out and screaming the next moment, then you go back to your thoughts or slumber until the next victim. It feels so much like my current job, kinda fake and acting every once in awhile before being bored again. Its juss with more noise and physical activity and there are things I can -do- when bored instead of sitting in the dark thinking of food, bed, water, etc. My body hurts today. So many bruises, mainly my knees.
