Listening to: The Dead Weather - Rolling in on a Burning Tire
I find I'm usually either conflicted or stressed out lately...
Stressed about the condo and money...
Conflicted about the cat and roommates...
But I think I got the stress about the condo and money done with...
I had to pay like $1,100 taxes on top of my downpayment, appliances, carpet, and mortgage...but I think I got this.
I ordered a wall decor like tree like I had at Mindys. Evan says he still likes the one I put up at Mindys. Too bad its non-reuseable. But I got a different kind of tree and different color so I'm excited to see how it will work in the house and how big. Then I can put all my pictures once I find a wall for the tree.
And I finally got around to the cat. I took it to the Humane Society and found its a neutered boy who has a microchip. Apparently the cat was adopted from the Humane Society so they had all his information right there. Someone cared enough for him when they adopted him to get him microchipped. Go figure. I told the Society I got it from a "friend" who had it for a few months and then I had it for a few months cuz I think we all knew the cat was missing since like Aug/Sept. I didn't want to rat myself or Gma out about stealing someone elses cat.
They said they'd call the phone numbers the owner gave and try to get ahold of them. The lady at the Society couldnt get them at that moment and asked if I would take the cat back home cuz he got sick in the kennel thing last time he was at the Society according to his past records. I think technically they can't let me keep the cat if it belongs to someone else right? But I said I'd hold the cat until they found out if the owners still wanted the cat or if they moved away or what. I assumed someone moved and left the cat behind. I mean, I know enough about this cat to maybe understand why someone would move and not take him with....
But the Society lady called me yesterday while I was at the store and it turns out the cats owner passed away and the guys daughter took the cat and it escaped out the door when she let the dogs out. She looked at her fathers house and the neighborhood. Apparently the cat has some sentimental value to the family since dad had the cat soon after mom died? Apparently they had the cat long enough to be attached to it. I dunno. Point is, they wanted the cat back and I was more than willing to drop it off... The Society asked me to drop it off at the Society so they could come get it, but I can't do that until Sat cuz they close at 5pm, so I asked if the Society could give my info to them and I'd arrange to bring it to them or whatnot. So the poor Society lady was the middle woman and called each of us back and forth trying not to break confidential info and getting permission for everything. I ended up getting their info instead and called them and asked if they wanted to get the cat tonight or I could bring it to them. They said they'd come get it that night.
So after the store I had a few minutes to say bye to the cat before they came down to get him. They kinda got lost. I think I conclude my place is hard to find without a gps. But I came out and found them and there was four of them in the car. I'm not sure who I was calling and who is the daughter and who actually wanted the cat, etc. Confused. But whatever. Apparently the daughter of the old man lost the cat and has other cats or dogs and can't keep it? and someone else in the family wanted the cat along with their other cat and dogs? Apparently the little boy that came had picked out the cat for Gpa when it was like 8months old so I think he wanted to keep Gpas cat. The sentimental part I'm guessing.
It looks like she's on the same street as Gma tho, 800 North. Haha oh dear. The cat was nearby the whole time. I bet if I mentioned Gmas name the lady would know, I'm sure they are in the same ward. I'm not sure how the microchip works, maybe it just gives owner info when checked, but I'm not sure why they didn't use the microchip to help find him??... What were their real efforts in trying to find him? But whatever.
The lady and boy I'm guessing that are actually keeping the cat kept talking about how good that cat is and praising the Humane Society for good cats, etc. I have no idea what she's talking about. She said he doesn't get into food and jump on the counters, etc. I'm like "do you even know this cat at all??" Its true he has never been interested in human food which I find interesting being he was a stray living off the land for a few weeks... but everything else just wasnt this cat. Boy are they in for a surprise.
And the older lady, the daughter of dad, actually gave me money for caring for the cat, reporting the cat, and giving the cat back. But I think her main reason was to help promote rescuing cats from the Society and encouraged me to get a cat from there. Which I kinda plan on doing anyway so I took the $40. Crazy.
I felt like such a horrible person the whole night tho before they came. I mean I had the cat for like 6 months and didnt report it and someone was missing the cat. I totally should have reported it earlier. What is wrong with me? Gma didn't report it either tho! I told them sorry for it taking so long to report the cat like 50 times. I totally thought the cat was abandoned for its obvious bad behaviors and claws. Jed jinxed me tho I bet. When he found out I took the cat from Gmas porch he said "but wonder if thats someones cat? someone is missing their cat?" and as soon as he said that I just knew he jinxed me and when I finally checked it out it would be someones cat. Darn him.
It was bittersweet to see him go. I was secretly happy I could save my carpet and sleep at night. Did I mention I feel like a horrible person? I never imagined I'd say I don't like a cat. But I was sad I wouldn't have anyone to talk to in the mornings and see him lying around the house. I had to hide all the cat stuff for the night so I wouldnt get overwhelmed with reality of no cat anymore.
Oh but I learned his name is Spiderman and they call him Spidey! Finally got the name. Kinda driving me nuts cuz the Society didnt tell me when I went on Saturday. I was kinda hoping there was an owner that wanted him cuz I did want a different cat and I don't think I could like trade him at the Humane Society...but thas what I would have to do if I didnt keep him or someone else take him back...
Well, no more cats clawing my couch, bed, and carpet. No more scratching on the doors or clawing the bottom of the doors. No more cats reaching in my pantry and ripping my grocery bags to pieces. No more squirting the cat for its clawing and scratching. No more lack of cuddles from cat. No more being randomly bitten. No more cat dominating my pillow and attacking my head to get it off the pillow... No more cat on the side of the tub when I shower. No more jumping on counters or tables and knocking everything off. No more cat coming into the bathroom with me in the morning when the heater comes on and it wants it sit in front of it... No more cat that wants to be outside all the time. No more cat to ruin my blinds while looking out the window.
Definitely one of those love/hate relationships.
I did have it long enough to get attached to it, but give me a few months to get over it and the desire to have a cat come back into my head and I'll try again. Certainly I wont give on getting a cat! I've wanted this for so long! I do still want to see if Lilly is still there... the young cuddly half blind cat. Hopefully declawed...
Meanwhile, I got the roommate thing figgered out, kinda. Got a deposit and a signed agreement. Still a little conflicted with her and my new ward. I might want to go to her ward with her but... she either has no friends and wants me to be hers or she is just really bored and clingy and always wants to hang out with me. She doesnt even live at my place yet! She's finding reasons to come back to the house and she never leaves! She asked for a key and said she could come get it tonight cuz she has nothing else to do all night. Oh great. And I'm not sure I want to give her a key before she moves in cuz she'll just come over and ...hang out forever randomly? Weird. I mean, I'm all for a friend, but this is...just weird. Maybe I need a background check on this girl... If she just wanders in early in the morning on a weekend or something so help me.
So I'll have a roommate that just keeps talking and hanging out at a place she doesn't live in yet, her cute dog, and me and no cat and a boyfriend that hangs around all the time and eats my food.
Thus is my life currently.
I am going to join a gym this month. I'm the fattest I've ever been in my life and I have a feeling its not going to go away, its just going to 'turn into muscle' as they say and I'll get bigger like last time. Grr.
Sometimes when I realize I'm almost 25 I feel like I'm too old and fat for this crap.
