Progress is going slow, I'm afraid. Ashley Bugosh and Co-facilitator (I love that word) Heather DeWolf were the only to show.
Hopefully Ms. Sova will announce these meetings in her American Literature classes and hand out the URL to this blog. :)
So here's the deal for Winter Break. No meetings will be taking place this week or over break, which is almost obvious, so when we return to scool, our next meeting will be on January 6th. Don't forget. The essay deadline is drawing near, whether you realize it or not!!
No meeting took place today during enrichment due to (what I'm hoping was/were) conflicting meetings. SADD, Sophomore Class Congress, and (possibly) a few other groups were meeting at the same time, and therefore wouldn't allow anyone to show for the meeting.
Another problem is with the announcements. Ms. Collins was absent on Thursday, so, out of necessity only, I went to Ms. Young and asked if she would be writing the announcements for that day. Through maybe what was miscommunication, (I'm hoping it was, because the other option sincerely makes me angry), the announcement of our meeting today was not put on yesterday's list. I'm not sure about this, though, because I wasn't able to listen to the announcements (I'm reall sick of that word right now) yesterday.
Of course, I could be totally incorrect, seeing as I only stayed for seven minutes to organize my plans for next Friday, what to say to Ms. Sova, who to "yell" at (joking about this one...sort of), etc., and then I left. However, I doubt that all of the members that showed up last Friday were absent today due to the meeting.
This group is not mandatory, I realize and understand that. I also understand that homework happens, and so do meetings. However, if one does not show simply because one doesn't want to, well, that's just purely... juvenile. I will continue to put as much work into it as I am (and much more, starting soon) as long as I am convinced that students want it to happen.
Anyway, the point is is that the meeting next Friday *will* be taking place come... er... Inferno or high water. We *will* be discussing the first three chapters in detail. We *will* get the member sheet completed. I WILL be able to pass all of the hand-outs out to those who are interested. This group will not fail without my permission. Sort of.
On that happy note, I admit that it was probably a good thing to not have a meeting today. I have this nagging feeling at the back of my mind that no one actually read the chapters.

Last Friday, December 2nd, the Anthem reading club met for the first time. We discussed how the meetings will be set up and the requirements of the Anthem essay. Adriane Ware and Heather DeWolf were named "facilitators" of the group.
This Friday, December 9th, we will be going over the first three sections of Ayn Rand's Anthem. Be sure to check out the links posted below for some great insights and opinion-maker-thingies. Great places. You can go here to find the story on-line. There is another link available in the list down below, but I tend to favor this one.
We, the Anthem Staff, will be posting updates on this site regularly, and we will contribute to the daily announcements that take place every morning in RHS.
If you have any questions, comments, or what-nots, see Adriane Ware or Heather DeWolf.
Thank you.
