Chapter 5

After some conscience was regained, the first thing that was out of anyone’s mouth was, “I hate you Mitch.” A long walk got everyone out of the forest and into a plain, open field. Before the four beloved words could be spat out again, Kurama had apparently heard something in the distance. Mitch looked at him funny. “...Um-” “Shhh.” Mitch listened over the argument the others were having. After a while, after Hiei had joined the listening frenzy, Mitch heard something, too. Distant voices were heard along with shuffling feet. Far away, some folk were coming thru the forest, two men and two women. Kuwabara was walking over cheerfully to ask for directions but Kurama held him back. When the group of people were a few feet away, the white haired boy spoke first. “Hmf, who the hell are you?” The other boy spoke up. “Inuyasha, cool it. You’ll have to forgive him, he’s a little testy. I’m sorry, but we never got your name, miss?” He tried to take Mitch’s hand but Mitch just raised an eyebrow and pulled away her hand. “You will do no such thing good sir.” “Yes, I agree. Now keep you hands to yourself Miroku. I’m Sango.” Sango points. “Inuyasha. And that’s Kagome.” Kuwabara happily chatted, spilling all of his group’s secrets to the new comers. Mitch was growing impatient. “CAN YOU GO NOW?-” “Do you know where the closest town is located?” Mitch gave Kurama an uncomfortable stare. “Of course, it’s just that way”. Miroku pointed east. “Alright. Shall we go dear Mitch?” He turned to her and smiled. She puffed, and started walking. Once they reached the town, Sango asked, “Was there a particular reason why you wanted to come here?” Kurama looked at her and smiled. “I was getting a bit hungry.” Everyone fell over. After a couple of minutes, Sango noticed that Kurama was staring to smile. “If you don’t mind me asking, Sir Kurama, what amuses you?” “Oh, please, Kurama is fine.” “Oh.” She watched him smile at her. He turned and looked back. “I was just thinking...don’t Mitch and Inuyasha somewhat...look the same?” Sango looked behind her. Both Mitch and Inuyasha were side by side, pouting. Sango smiled. “Ya, I guess so. So, here’s the market.” Everyone stopped in front of a salesman, selling fish and carrots. Miroku and Kurama hustled and bustled about who would pay the salesman. In the evening, everyone was quite porked, except Kuwabara and Mitch. Kuwabara was sitting there, patting his stomach and picking his teeth and burping. Mitch was still licking the plate. Kurama was watching Mitch from the corner of his eye. He started grinning. “Well, I dunno about you guys but, I’m pooped.” Yusuke went over to a tree trunk, leaned against it, and went to sleep. Soon after, everyone else followed. Mitch tried to climb the tree but was failing. She was getting annoyed. “HOW DO I GET UP IN THIS FLIPPIN TREE?” “Hold your horses!” Mitch blinked. Inuyasha helped her up. “Hey thanks man.” “Yeah, yeah, just keep it down over there.” Mitch mimicked him. He grinned funny. Hiei grunted. And soon all were asleep.
