Abigail woke up the next morning and got dressed right away. She hoped that Luke would be in the cottage and it was all a dream. She went out of the palace without her cloak and not caring if her parents saw. At the front gate the guards would not let her leave the palace untill her Father came outside and told them to let her go. The King knew he wouldn't be there and saw no harm in letting her go there once more. Abigail ran to the cottage and pushed open the door. She saw no sign of him there. The fire had been long burnt out and all of his belongings were gone. She went outside to see if his sheep were still there, they were not. She was to mad to even think about crying and made her way back to the palace. She slammed open the door to her parents chamber.
"Where is he?!" She said to her Father.
"Abigail not now." Her Father said staring her down.
"Yes now Father! What have you done with him?"
There was a slight pause before her Father answered.
"Let us have this room."
All of the people walked out of the chamber curious about what they were talking about. Her Mother stayed behind thinking she was allowed to stay.
"Margaret, This is between me and Abigail." Her Father said.
"But I don't understand."
"Why can't Mother stay?" Abigail said.
"It is between me and you Abigail. I'm sorry Margaret."
"No I understand."
The Queen walked out of the chamber and closed that door slowly.
"Well Father where is he?" Abigail said
"He's gone forever. I told you you would never see him again"
"Where did you send him to?"
"I sent him as far as his feet can carry him."
Abigail gave her Father a look as if she were to kill him. Without a word she went to her room and started packing her things. She wanted to go after him. She wanted to tell him that she loves him and will stay with him forever no matter what. She then went to the stable and grabbed her horse. She loved this horse, it was her friend when she had none. The horse's name was Snow because he's pure white and when he was born it was snowing. She gave her horse a hug and a kiss and got on him. They raced toward the village and asked everyone if they saw which way he went, no one knew. Just when she was setting off in any direction she thought would take her to him, her Father's trusty guards came after her. She kicked Snow and they went running hoping they could out run them. Eventually the guards caught up and tied her horse to theirs. They took her back kicking and screaming the whole way. Abigail grew tired and fell asleep.
As time past Abigail started to give up on ever seeing Luke again. She knew her parents were setting up an arranged marriage but Luke was still in her heart. She knew he always would be but tried to forget about him so many times. She grew closer to her Mother and told her all about Luke. Her Mother didn't speak to her husband for a week and then forgave him. Abigail never spoke one word to her Father after that day and planed on keeping it that way.
A year later her parents finally found the perfect Prince for Abigail. His name was Prince Philip and he was from England. He had four older brothers and had no chance at the thrown. He was very educated and charming, just what they thought Abigail needed. Prince Philip was to arrive on the same day that Luke proposed to Abigail. Abigail wanted nothing to do with him and refused to see him. She sneaked out of the palace and went to Luke's old cottage.
It still smelt like him and ashes from the fire were still there. Abigail closed her eyes remembering that day. She began talking as if he were there and pretended to clean the cottage. She pretended that they were married and she were no longer a Princess. As she talked and cleaned the door squeaked open. She stopped and looked at the door frightened. A man with dirt blonde hair and hazel eyes walked in and had a smile from ear to ear.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" Abigail said as if it were her home and he were intruding.
"I am Prince Philip." He took his hat off and bowed at her. "Your Father said I could find you here."
"Well you found me now will you excuse me." She walked past him and started for the palace. Philip leaned against the door frame facing her.
"I brought my horse dear Princess, let me ride you back to the palace."
"No thank you I'd much rather bath with pigs."
"And I much rather you come with me. Who knows what kinda of hethans are around."
Abigail turns around and Philip walks towards her.
"I don't know what kind of hethans you have where you come from but I promise you my village has none." Abigail says feeling offended
"Well maybe not but I'd feel much better if you let me take you."
He takes her hand and kisses it. She pulls her hand away and whips it on her dress.
"No thank you Prince Gill." She turns and starts walking away once more.
"It's Prince Philip."
"Your name is of no importance to me."
Prince Philip sighs and gets on his horse. He passes by her and goes back to the palace. When he gets there he goes to the dining table and sits down with the King and Queen.
"Where is Abigail?" The Queen says looking around.
"She wouldn't let me ride her back, I tired but she just insulted me." Philip said. The King laughs.
"That's my daughter."
"Just give her time. It was a year ago when Luke left and she's still taking it hard." The Queen said to Philip.
Before Philip went to see Abigail her parents told him the whole story. Philip fell inlove with her as soon as he saw her and wasn't planning on giving up. Philip was one of those people who wouldn't stop untill he was did what he was set out to do. This was not why Abigail's parents wanted them to marry. They have been fighting with England for a long time and hoped this marriage would save their country.
Abigail walked through the dining area and sat down. She looked over at Philip and got up.
"I suddenly lost my appetite." She gave Philip the look of death and then left.
"Why does she hate me so? She doesn't even know me." Philip said.
"That's why she doesn't like you. You want to sweep her off her feet yet you know nothing of her. Try to talk to her, be her friend, not her lover. She will learn to love you but give her time." The Queen said.
Philip excused himself and went to his room. He went to a writting desk that was in his room and pulled out some paper. He inked his feather pen and started writting a letter for Abigail. He went outside and got some flowers before giving her his letter. He tied it with a bow and slipped the flower inbetween. He then slid it under her door and went back to his room.
