~Chapter7~

After the wedding they had a big party to celebrate in the ballroom. Abigail sat at the head table sulking. Everyone else in the ballroom was dancing and singing, and many were getting drunk. Her parents didn’t pay any attention to her and nor did her new husband. Philip was off getting drunk and dancing with other women. Just when Abigail thought she was going to fall asleep Luke’s brother walked to the table where she was. “Not having fun Princess?” Abigail looked at him a little startled. “I’m just here to tell you that Luke still loves you. I recently visited him and you were all he talked about. He asked about you and how you were, and I just couldn’t find the courage to tell him you were getting married. Just remember that he still loves you.” He walked off without giving Abigail a chance to speak. Abigail got up and ran to him. “Wait! Sir Please! Wait!” He stopped and turned around. “If you see Luke, please tell him that I still love him as well, and give him this to remember me by.” She handed him a handkerchief from her bosom. He nodded and left Abigail standing there, her hand still stretched out. She then slowly walked back to her seat and sat down. If Luke still loves her then there is still a chance of them to seeing each other again. But how? The party ended and all the drunks went home. Abigail started up to her room to get some sleep. She was only a few steps away from her room when Philip pulled on her arm. “Where are you going my dear? We are married now we can sleep in the same room.” “I’m going to my room alone, I refuse to sleep with you. It’s bad enough I have to sleep in the same castle as you.” Philip squeezed harder on her arm. “You will sleep with me Abigail.” “I WILL NOT!” Abigail pulled away and ran into her room. Philip was to drunk to chase after her so he left her go. Abigail threw herself on her bed and cried wishing she could get away. She knew she couldn’t because one day she would be Queen. Six months past and Abigail and Philip have never slept in the same room. After every day of hearing Philip complain everyone in the palace could take no more. At supper one night Philip was going on as usual and the King could not take anymore. “Abigail we have been married for six months now and we have never slept in the same bed, not even in the same room. I have barely touched you. I think I have the right to exercise my rights as a husband!” Philip spit out as he ate his pork. “That’s enough Philip! You will not talk about such things in front of ladies!” The King screamed. “I’m sorry Father but I can’t take it anymore!” Philip screamed back. The King slammed his fists down on the table and stood up. “I’m sorry but Abigail you are sleeping with Philip tonight! I can no longer hear him day after day complaining and whining!” The King said with such a rage that everyone but Abigail was speechless. “Daddy this isn’t fair! I don’t even love him!” Abigail said with tears in her eyes. “Abigail this is not a debate you will sleep with your husband! I am no longer giving into you! You are a grown woman now and married and I’d like to see grand children before I die!” “But Daddy!” Abigail pleaded. “THAT’S FINAL ABIGAIL! YOU WILL…” The King stopped talking and grabbed his chest. He couldn’t speak and he then fell to the ground. “STEPHAN!” The Queen cried. The guards came and carried him to his chamber and they called for the doctor. Everyone crowded outside of the room, except for the Queen, worried of what has happened to him. The doctor came out of the chamber shutting the door after him. “I’m afraid it’s not good. He’s had a heart attack and he may never recover.” The doctor left the palace as everyone grieved. Abigail felt horrible, she hasn’t talked to him for over a year and a half and she has just yelled at him. She ran into the chamber and hugged her Father. “Daddy I’m so sorry! It’s all my fault, if only I was a better daughter!” She cried mumbling her words. “Abigail, he can’t hear you, he can’t hear anyone…” The Queen said with sorrow. Abigail stayed there the night worried about her Father. As the doctor said he may never recover and Abigail still thought it was her fault. The next day she spent the whole day with him. Her Mother stayed as well but she didn’t eat anything all day. Abigail wanted to obey her Father so she final slept in the same bed with Philip. A year later Abigail sat next to his bed and read him the bible. She stopped for a slight pause and he started to speak to her. She put the book down. “MOTHER!” Abigail screamed. ”Daddy, what is it?” “Abigail,” He smiled. “I love you.” He slowly reached his hand up to her cheek and it feel fast. King Stephan had died. The Queen ran in right when he put his hand up to Abigail and screamed when she learned that he had pasted away. Abigail just stood there looking at him as tears started to flow. Philip ran in and held Abigail, but she just keep looking at her Father.
