~Chapter 5~

The next day Abigail got up and got dressed. When she went to her door to leave for breakfast she saw the note. She bent down and picked it up. She took the flowers and smelt them, she smiled in approval. She put the flowers on her desk and began opening the letter. The letter read: Princess Abigail, I know you loath me because you think I want to take the place of Luke. This is not my intentions at all. I know how much you loved Luke and I could never take his place in your heart. All I ask of you is to give me chance. Our parents thought we would make a good King and Queen together and I want that chance to see if they were true. We owe it to ourselves and our country to marry and be happy. Would you rather marry me or be alone for the rest of your life? You cannot rule a country by yourself. So Princess Abigail, I extend my hand in marriage and hope you except. I will be waiting. Your Future King, Prince Philip Abigail grew a small smile after reading it and set it next to the flowers. The note was sweet but made her alittle upset. Simply because she is a Princess she isn't allowed to marry for love. She has to marry some man she just met and run a country with him. She thought this was unfair and didn't know what to do. She could run away and try to find Luke, or she could marry Philip and maybe be happy. She stayed in her room untill night fall. She had paced her room all day thinking of what to do. She had not eaten all day so she finally lefted her room and went down to the kitchen. When she got down there the kitchen was already lit with candles and someone was humming. She walked slowly and looked into the kitchen. She then pressed her back into the wall and gasphed. It was Philip cooking some stew. She was so hungry but she did not want to face him yet. She started to go back to her room. "Who's there?" Philip said. Abigail stopped walking and didn't say a word. "Is that you Abigail?" "Yes." Abigail said turning and going into the kitchen. "Yes it's me." She blew out her candle and set it down. She could not look into his eyes she was to nervous. "Did you get my letter?" Philip asked tending to his stew. "Yes, I have." "And have you read it?" "Yes, I have." "I thought you had when I was told you would not come out of your room." "Well I had a lot to think about and didn't want bothered." "And did you think?" "Yes, I did." "Have you an answer?" There was a pause. "You know Philip you can't just write something like that to someone and expect..." Philip kissed her not letting her finish. She pushed him away. "I had a mind to say yes to you tonight but I can now see that you are nothing but a pig and I will not marry a pig!" She starts to storm off when Philip speaks and she stops to listen. "Can you think of no one but yourself?! What about your country what about your parents?! Luke is gone Abigail, and he is not coming back. I am the next best thing and you know it. I'm sorry I kissed you I was out of line but how could I not? Look at you, your so beautiful, and so cute when your angry. I just want to know you." Abigail could not bare no longer to let him go on. She raises her hand. "Stop, you have made your point. I will marry you Philip, but not because I like you, or feel bad for you. I'm doing it for my parents and my country. We will announce it tomorrow." Abigail goes to her room leaving Philip to smile and dance around the kitchen. All Abigail can do is cry. She knew it was true, she only thought of herself. And as for Luke he was never coming back. She has been fooling herself the past year thinking he'd come back for her. She then became angry that Luke never fought for her like Philip fought for her hand in marriage. She vowed then and there that if Luke ever did come back she would treat him like any other man that was not her future husband. The following day her and Philip went to her parents and told them she had finally agreed to marry Philip. Of course they were thrilled and wanted everyone to know the good news. They announced to the village that there was to be a ball in honor of their engagement. The night of the ball Abigail sat in her room looking into the mirror. She wore a long red flowing dress with a rob to match. Her hair was half up and as usual curly with her crown ontop of her head. She frowned at herself. Even thought she knew she'd forget about Luke in any romantic way she thought she was betraying him. She moved Luke's engagement ring to her right hand and looked at it. Just then there was a knock at the door. "Abigail, are you ready they are waiting for us." Philip said through the door. "Yes, I'm ready just a moment please." She wipped a tear from her face and stood up. She opened the door and slipped her arm under Philip's. They walked to the ballroom and waited to be announced. "PRINCE PHILIP AND PRINCESS ABIGAIL!" A man said as horns started to sing. The doors opened and they walked forward towards the thrown. She smiled and so did Philip. There was something about their names being put together and all those people cheering for them that felt right. They reached the throwns and sat down. There her parents were waiting for them. As the night went on Abigail began to cheer up. She danced with her Father the whole night and had more fun then she has had since Luke left. Although Abigail and her Father no longer talk to each other, she knew he was proud. It was then time for Philip and Abigail to dance together. Everyone stepped aside and let them dance. "Are you having fun?" Philip asked. "I am, I didn't expect it." "Well I'm glad your having fun." "Philip, why do you want to marry me?" "It's only right." "Oh, I see." "And I've been inlove with you since the first time you told me you'd rather bath with pigs then let me take you to the palace." Philip looks away and Abigail laughs. "I'm sorry about that, but it was funny." Abigail kept laughing and then her and Philip got close to each other and she stopped. Philip kissed her lightly on her lips. Abigail blushed and smiled. They danced untill the ball was over and then went right to bed they were so tired from dancing all night. Abigail was happy although she thought she would be miserable. Maybe Philip is her one true love after all. "Perhaps Luke was a practice." Abigail thought. All she knew was she was gettin married to a kind Prince and she would be Queen in a few years. And she was fine with that, because finally she was happy.
