Listening to: Dexter Freebish
Feeling: annoyed
I've realized that at college, when people leave their hometowns, they suddenly have a newfound love and respect for where they came from. Like, if you live in Ohio or something, and you hate it - always have, but then you go to school in Maine, you're suddenly like, Ohio Rocks! when people start doing all their Maine things and you try to tell them, that's not the way we drink Pop in Ohio!
I've noticed that a lot here. I bet half the people on this campus could not WAIT to get out of their town/state and now suddenly it's all like "Oh New Jersey Rocks!" and "Massachusetts Pride!" It's insane. You hated it there, now you love it. We know you some from somewhere else, that's all well and cool. Just don't rub it in people's faces and say what you do back in Connecticut is better than what they do here in your new little college town. NOBODY REALLY CARES!
So stop making your little groups and stop trying to prove you're better than another state because OF COURSE you think you are! Everyone thinks they're better than the next, but in reality we're all just pathetic losers trying to get other people's attention to go ooo ahhh and get them to want to love your state/hometown, etc. and they won't. Sorry, you're efforts to impress are wasted. People will always be loyal to the place they're from, unless of course they're criminals or something or they were beaten as children or they're from somewhere like Montana or West Virginia in which case it's understandable.
There - i vented!
