xvii* The Prefects (or lack there of)

ok so Selwyn House Prefects ... the best and the brightest rite? WRONG. More like the laziest of the lowest. Yeah so naming names isnt right, but for those of you who do not know who im talking about, they are they 9 boys at Selwyn who are lead but none other then the fearless Robin Wearing and Bill Mitchell. Prefects are voted in at the end of grade 10 by there peers. There are no campains as seen on TV, there is no marketting, nor bribery, it is a simple sheet of paper where you circle a couple names of ppl you think would make good prefects. And ah ha! in there lies the problem. As much as the student is told to vote for a good prefect (you know, someone hard working, decent grades, proactive, involved in the community...blah blah blah....) but what it ends up becoming is a mother-fucking-stupid-ass popularity vote. Yes some people say I'm a bit sour for not being voted in, but now, half way through grade 11, i couldnt be happier to not be a prefect. Let's see so far they have done, excuse the laguage, jack fucking shit. Well no, sorry I lie. They ran a great food drive for a week and they have attended all the admissions nites for new candidates to the school. Yay, cause that really helps our grade 11 class. Previous years grade 11s have had certain privileges at SHS, they're own common room next to the old Dinning hall, they had their own set of stairs next to the front door and were the only ones allowed to come in and out through there. This year we are lucky enough to be the only grade to not have laptops!! Our common room has become a storage room and our stairs are still there, but last summer they built a new set of stairs right accross from it that leads pretty much straight to the dining hall. But back on track. Yes thes prefects....the best of the best of the best? Well their awesome team of dunces is comprised of a bunch of people, most of whome are only their because they are consistant high honors students or are very sociable guys, or both. It is enough to say that there are outta the 9 voted in, 3(CW, SL,PC) who are proactive enough to do something without a teacher on their ass every minute of the day. But it's not their faults, i mean it is only us to blame because we are the ones who voted them in instead of acutal proactive people like MR or someone else. Its sad, but there's nothing to do about it. Everyday i count myslef lucky to be going away and getting out of this money corrupted environment and to be getting out to see the true world, outside this Westmount bubble. For those three who are initialled above, keep up the good work, and if you triple your current work, u can make up for the lack of a lot of things in the other 6...best of luck to you....
