It was warm out and pretty sunny for awhile. I took a walk up into the fields and then came back. I'm finally, at long last free of The Stand. It was really good, it's problem not length but size. If that sounds stupid to you then you're weird. Just kidding, what I mean is that a story cannot be too long because a story is as long as it needs to be. But a story can be too big, it can have too many characters and too many events. Well The Stand had a bit too much of both. The best cut would have been to combine Larry and Stu, thus eliminating Lucy and maybe a bunch of other people. Trashcan Man was great but the kid was too much. of course there probably aren't many people reading this who know what I'm talking about. But that's ok. Another cool aspect is how The Stand seems very much based on The Lord of the Flies. Not word for word or anything, but the concepts are similar. One was written by some British guy and the other by Stephen King. Guess which I like better? But still I've been reading TS for like 6 months (it was always the second most important book on the Tower of Power- which is the never ending pile of stuff I read). Now for a change of authors I'm reading The Drawing of the Three (ok, kidding about the authors bit). That is a nice change though.
Yes, I love books too much.
