Listening to: Wrapped Up in Books- Belle and Sebastian
Time for a literal translation of my life since late March. I feel way overdue.. Excuse me. I have a habit of being fashionably late.
So. Recent events that have inspired me to be a more creative individual...
-Ani di Franco concert with Danny-
We drove to Charleston for dinner at Gaulart et Maliclet. The serveuse assumed we were a couple with her wayward glances. He offered to buy dinner, I insisted on splitting the bill 50/50 because he bought the tickets at a hefty price. Once there, we witnessed much dyke interaction. I saw a couple caressing each other in line as I waited for a toilet. And... Ani was incredible. We stayed overnight with Whitney LeJeune and her roommate from Savannah College of Art and Design. Her parents own a beachhouse on Folly. Really rustic. So many wonderful memories.
-English V-
Daily, chai tea drinking, bibliophile Mrs. Honeycutt loses control over our class because of disruptions like the boy side playing tag, Robbie blurting out pick up lines from Taming of the Shrew, Eric practicing drumline rhythms on the desks... And the exam is next week. I feel prepared, but honestly, what can I prepare for? It's basically hit or miss.
-the Uncle Louie story-
Danny tells the most incredible stories about his family from Buffalo, NY. One about his Sicilian uncle named Louie going to the beach when Long Island beaches were segregated is especially humorous. His uncle was sunbathing on a raft about one hundred yards from the shore and floated accross the buoy separating the white side from the black side. So he wakes up, thinking "Fuck, did I float all the way to Africa? What the hell?!"
-the cow pastures on the way to my grandfathers estate in Chapin-
Pastoral scenes of pathwork quilt cows grazing peacefully, goldenrod patches... I feel exposed. Now that he is gone, I have to make excuses for going there. Today it's to drop off flowers and gifts at the Robinson HIller House as a surprise for my aunts and moms luncheon.
-the rejection letter from UChicago-
So it's not exactly what I expected. I was crushed but the more and more I read weather reports up there, I fell further in love with CofC. Plus I like being debt-free as a starting point for graduate school.
-the Cooper River Bridge Run-
A crowd of 32,000 people really dwarfs your perception of me me me. I saw people with disabilities finish in front of me. It's just incredibly mind boggling and reverent to be a part of such a memorable and grand scale event.
More to ensue...
