december 10th 2008 wednesday 10:54 pm i got drunk, but not horribly drunk last saturday as it was my friend's 21st birthday. in the morning we walked to a history / art museum that is a five minute walk from her place. so with some of us in a hungover state and most of us in a hungry state we enjoyed new installations and historical facts. we went to get breakfast afterward and decided to go through this small road in the part of town i have never been to or seen. on the way we saw the man pictured above near a tall tree looking for something in the dirt/grass. i stopped the car and confused my other friends who were riding in the one behind me. i wanted to step out and ask him if i could take his picture much closer because he was wearing a top hat and an old blazer. (you need to be closer for such details to show up when using this lens) i rolled down the windows and asked him if i could take his picture. "what for?" was all he asked, but not in a rude way. i just wanted to take a picture of him going about his business in the dirt, but he stopped and turned towards me after i said, "i think you look interesting." it was my friend in the passenger seat who urged me to ask what exactly he was doing. when i asked him this he responded, "i'm looking for treasure trash."

Might as well while we're still young and cool!

That man sounds wonderful, but it's a bit sad, he must have been lonely.
