saturday 10:40 am
even though this christmas was little for my family it was still good. my mother decided to make pork loin stuffed with gorgonzola and a cherry reduction sauce, mashed potatoes, and roasted vegetables (the carrots are my favorite which also happen to be my father's as well so when there were no more left in the dish it was no surprise that his fork wandered onto my plate). that morning i had made brioche so we ate that, too. i didn't have the pans to make classic "brioche à tête", but i don't think my parents knew what brioche was let alone what it should properly look like. besides, i'm not a purist anyway. well, at least not with brioche! we had this really good wine that my father refused to drink because he hates wine in general and my sister took a sip of it before going into the kitchen for water. i'm really glad my mother made this meal instead of the regular ham that we eat around this time. not that ham is bad. it just isn't my favorite. we didn't really have a "traditional" christmas this year and my father was kind of sad about this, but he got over it when he saw that it really didn't make a difference anyway. later that night my mother made her own marshmallows. they were pretty bad, but everyone plopped one into their cup of hot cocoa and drank it. one shitty marshmallow wasn't going to stop the day from continuing to be great.
Your entry made my mouth water what with all the talk of food and marshmallows :D
