heat wave

i don't know if i've mentioned how much i dislike hot weather, but i really, really dislike it. i'm fine up to about 75F; after that, forget it. we live along the lake, so the humidity is always up; dry heat would be much better, and i'd be able to tolerate the higher temperatures. after the lovely fall temps we've been having, today it decided to spike to 86F. it's gone up two degrees in the past hour, and it's not even the hottest part of the day yet. ugh. uuuugh. anyhow, here's a bit of an update on the news from yesterday. mike saw melissa, the property manager, at work last night. she said we're right on the line of how much we're allowed to make to live there (odd, eh?), so they have to figure that out and will let us know. i'm going to call and tell her that my job sucked this year and i'll be under what i normally am. that might help. michael actually came home in a good mood this morning. apparently, this time, the job's not so bad. last time he was in charge, there were 'a bunch of idiots' for him to watch over. they've all since quit or been fired, so there's a new group that actually works. that definitely will make it easier. also, he's getting a better raise than we expected. (we're going to leave this part out when we talk to melissa again, hah.) that'll definitely put my mind a bit more at ease. i'm glad things have improved. i know there are always going to be ups and downs, i'm just absolutely terrible at handling stress. i'd really like to work on this. writing definitely helped me get my head sorted, though. i always feel bad when i say something unfavourable about mike or either of our families. i don't want to give the impression that they're all horrid, as they're not. so today's been pretty decent so far, aside from this insanely uncomfortable jungle-heat. i saw a programme the other night on PBS about the infinity of space. it discussed all of the galaxies, the possibility of a multiverse connected spherically, how the universe expands, and other such things. it always amazes me how completely insignificant we are in the grandest sense of things; at the same time, it's interesting that so much can happen on really so small a thing (comparatively) as earth. there are a lot of 'what if?'s out there, and something on such a large scale is incredibly difficult for me to wrap my head round. still, it's fun to think about anyhow. kind of like exercise for the mind. (= have a great weekend, everyone. (=
