i hate 'gate.

this one might be all over the place, but i suppose that's typical for me anyhow. it's going to be shorter than usual (i think), though, as it's late & i need to get to bed. just some waffling, really. we went to go look at the car today; it's about a 45-minute drive, and as we approached the city, i rang the place up to let them know we were almost there. the bloke on the phone told me that some people were looking at the car, so we'd have to get there soon. (that might sound bitchy; he was really nice about it.) as soon as we got there, he came out and told us the news: the car was sold. apparently, he didn't realise that whilst he was on the phone to me, his co-worker was drawing up the paperwork with the buyers. since that didn't work out, we visited michael's sister at uni; we had a good time there and i think we shall do it again soon. i'd like to take this opportunity to say that i hate anything ending in 'gate' or referred to simply by date (american style) when it comes to politics. the original was watergate; we've since had a flood (pardon the crappy unintended pun) of stupid shiz with that stupid suffix, not the least of which being 'nipplegate' and 'nannygate'. it's gotten so out of hand, there is an actual wikipedia entry about this linguistic abomination. i also am really fed up with events being referred to in that day/month format. can't the media be a bit more creative? surely we haven't run out of words yet... also, another bit showcasing john mccain's trophy-VP's inability to be that 'strong, independent political woman' she so wishes to portray: (link to article; too lazy to get into detail. just read it.) if you've been reading up on my friend thesleeper's diary (aka brendan aka 'i don't really eat dogs....really i don't'), you'll probably have noticed my comments there. if you haven't, go check it out, cos i'd rather send you in clickable circles than the mental ones you'd be in if i kept typing. hope you're all having a swell weekend.
