a sudden change of direction and i'm back in your town. sitting on your porch waiting for you to get home while smoking a cigarette i'm wondering what you're going to have on. you show up, cute as ever, and like always i die when i see you.
a short trip to the fair and we're looking for a fish. you're so excited you're walking in front of me determined to find one. we walk and i see him and i try to ignore it but i can't. you get so close to me and i can feel your heart beat before you say it's okay. carl tells us he needs money for gas, hauling his dart board in a flat bed truck, he only gets four miles a gallon. he tells us where sylvester, the man with the fish, will be. and we go.
on the way we pass him again and it all comes back. pathetic and sad i cry for the second time tonight before your heart is beating against my rib cage and your voice is letting me know it's not so bad again. you pay leonard, not sylvester for a fish since you couldn't get the ball in the jar and after telling him about carl, even though he's not the right man. and we leave. and it's all okay and only gets better as we sit in the ally smoking cigarettes.
