the man and the maiden

As his hands grasp the wet guard rail, the light from the silent ocean water to his left illuminates his eyes with the reflection of the sun late in the sky. He shades his eyes from this brilliance, and his vision becomes normal- allowing him to view what is ahead of him: a maiden dancing in the silent seas, singing to nobody; with her dusky curls illuminated from the Sun, she loves the world and the world loves her. This maiden of the seas surprises the man on the boat, not for the fact of her serenading death- but for the beauty within and around her. Her voice is enchanting; her voice is inspiring; her voice is haunting. The man can do nothing but stand and stare at this maiden, singing soulfully whilst slowly sinking into the water. As the water around her arises, a familiar tune reverberates from her lungs and into the man's ears: Be like a child of nature, with love in your eyes and flowers in your hair. Be like a child of nature, with peace on your mind and a powerful heart. Childs of nature are silent, they are smart and they know the pains of the earth, your pains and mine. Their hearts beat with Nature's, they quietly hum to a song only they can hear- bobbing their heads, and teaching it to those whom are still. As the last note of the maiden's song ended, the ocean noticed it's time to strike and slowly surrounded the maiden. The water rose and took the woman away; her life ending with the song. Almost instantly, the man was crying while bobbing his head and quietly humming a silent song.
