Chapter 14 - The Perfect Day I looked at him, amazed. At first, I couldn’t comprehend what he was asking me. Then it hit me. Nathan was proposing. I smiled slowly. He looked at me anxiously. “Of course I will!” I said, giggling happily. I took the ring from its box and put it on my finger. It was a gold ring with a large diamond heart set into it. It was beautiful. He smiled broadly and hugged me. I grabbed him and kissed him over and over, until we were both out of breath. We sat there for a few minutes, with huge smiles on our faces. I looked over at the lake. It was so pretty; I couldn’t resist it anymore. “Let’s go swimming!” I said. I dragged Nathan down to the edge of the lake, and we jumped into the water, still wearing out clothes. However, that didn’t last very long. A few hours later, we struggled onto the shore. Nathan wrapped a towel around me and pulled a blanket and some food out of the bag he had brought. “A picnic? Wow, you really do know the way to a girls heart don’t you?” He laughed. “Apparently I do, if I managed to get the most beautiful one to say she’d marry me.” “Nathan! You never told me you were engaged to Kaira!” He laughed, then kissed me. We ate, and then Nathan held me as we watched the sun setting on the other side of the lake. It was so beautiful. “Nathan?” “Yeah?” “This was the best day I’ve ever had... Thank you.” “Anything for you Lily... I love you so much, more then you will ever know... And today wouldn’t have been anywhere near as good if I had shared it with anyone else.” I turned around and kissed him softly. Right as I did, the fireworks started going off. I laid down on Nathan’s stomach and watched them exploding over the lake. It was so comfortable lying there with him, that pretty soon, I fell asleep. It was the perfect ending to the best day of my life.
