Chapter 27

(dont worry, the next few will be alot longer and less boring...we just gotta get there first.) Chapter 27 – Nathan's Place After driving for about 20 minutes, Nathan turned the car into the driveway his house. “Come on, let’s get this over with.” I followed him nervously up the front steps. I had been to his house before, but I had never really paid much attention to it. His parents had also never been there when he’d brought me over. He pushed open the door and held it open for me. I stepped into the entryway, which was decorated beautifully. The walls were adorned with pictures by famous artists, the floor was marble, and walkways of red velvet branched off from the entryway into other rooms. A crystal chandelier hung from the high ceiling and gave the room a very warm glow. Nathan led the way through the living room, which was decorated similarly to the entrance hall, and filled with state-of-the-art electronics and expensive furniture. We stopped at the foot of a wide, sweeping staircase. “What? No elevator?” I teased. “Yeah…It’s over there.” He said, pointing to a pair of golden doors. Once we reached the top of the stairs, Nathan turned to left, walked down a short hallway, and opened a pair of beautiful French doors to reveal his room. His room was much more normal than the rest of the house. The walls were covered with posters of all of Nathan’s favorite bands, the bed was unmade, and there were clothes strewn all over the room. However, it was also filled with expensive furniture and hi-tech electronics. I sat down on the bed with a sigh. “Much better.” I said with a slight smile. “Huh?” “Nothing… I just don’t feel right out there. It’s too… neat.” He grinned. “The maids all hate me cuz I wont let them come in here and clean.” “I wouldn’t either… There’s nothing wrong with it.” “I know, but apparently, it tells people that they aren’t doing their job or…I dunno, something like that.” He began shuffling through the drawers. The door was nudged open, and a small, furry brown head popped into the room. It gave a small whine when it saw Nathan and ran over to him. “Rocky! Hey! I missed you!” Nathan sat down and wrapped his arms around his dog, while Rocky licked his face excitedly. I smiled at the sight of them. “Rocky! Go see Lily!” He said, pointing towards me. Rocky bounded over and jumped up onto the bed next to me. I laughed and petted him lightly. Nathan threw his clothes into a bag and stood up. “Ready?” “I guess so.” He smiled. “Don’t worry, they’ll love you. Either that, or they’ll think you’re my sister.” “Amy? But I look nothing like her.” “To them you will.” “What do you mean?” “Lily, I’ll be surprised if they’ve even noticed that I moved out.” “How could they no notice?” “Easily… They’re never around.” I looked at Nathan sympathetically. “That must’ve kinda sucked when you were younger.” “Not really, I had Amy. Besides, I’d rather not see my parents then have them always be around and be assholes.” He returned my look of sympathy. “Yeah, that’s true…” I answered softly. He put his arm around me. “Let’s go.” Nathan led the way back down the hallway and the wide, sweeping stairs into the living room.
