brian turned in shawns videotapes of raping all those girls into the police. shawn confronts brian. brian points a gun to shawns head but turns tables as he shoots himself.
whoo now things are finally getting started!
Brian walked confidently to the police station, confronting the sheriff.
“Hello.” Brian simply said.
“I have something of your interest.” He continued.
The sheriff looked up at Brian in a skeptical manner, “That would be?”
Brian’s arms lifted a large box of heavy videotapes.
“There’s an anonymous tip for ya, buddy.”
“Excuse me, sir, you cannot just leave…”
But Brian was already gone, leaving Shawn’s evidence of his life behind.
There was a pounding on Brian’s door, as he opened it; he confronted an angry Shawn, who immediately forced himself in.
He screamed, “You mother fucker.” His voice loud, but sounding low.
“Shawn! My dearest friend, how are you this evening?”
“The police are looking for me; I’m all over the fuckin’ news. What the fuck is wrong with you?! You’re just as guilty as I am.”
“Oh that. Yeah, I sent your videotapes in to the police.” Brian replied casually but deviously.
Shawn grabbed Brian’s collar and smashed him against the wall, away from him.
“How could you do this to me?”
Brian’s reaction was simple and undisturbed. “You didn’t film the last one.”
Shawn said “What?” so low; he couldn’t hear himself saying it.
“Yeah. That’s right. That’s what this was all about. You’d ruin me if you didn’t turn it in. So I turned you in.” He smiled.
“You’re such a dumbshit, Brian, you were the leader of this, and I had no choice.”
Brian began laughing. He laughed until his body was bent over, holding the side of a shelf to keep from falling down in hilarity. Shawn stared at him, bewildered, he felt his anger rise endlessly. Brian reached for the shelf, opening it, laughing even harder, as it turned into an evil giggle. He pulled out a gun, and pointed it to Shawn. He stopped laughing, forcibly as he cocked the shiny black gun. Shawn’s breath stopped as he stared at his reflection in the gun.
“Don’t do it.” Shawn commanded.
Brian stifled a laugh, as Shawn closed his eyes. Nothing would stop him now.
Shawn heard the gun fire, and his heart paused.
He opened his eyes, to confront Brian, dead on the floor.
it's not over yet. but i need your help. what do you think? help help help!
It rained that day. They stood around the open white coffin. Shawn picked some daises and dragged himself across the wet grass. Then he saw her mom, Nathan… her family. Their eyes engrossed on the coffin, just wailing. Except for Nathan. He just stood there, staring at her, hoping she’d open her eyes and smile again. Shawn stood at a distance where no one could see. He pulled out a note, written by his shaky hands, not exactly readable, and forced himself to the coffin, standing in front of everyone. He slipped the note between her hands, then turned and walked away, feeling the glare and silence of the world stare him down.
[The note]
‘You’re more than a person, but an angel. Your brown eyes, silky hair, and not just beautiful, but beyond anything you can put into words. I miss you not just because of the sweetness you brought to the world, but because there is only one of you. Jamie, you were the only reason I pushed myself out of bed in the morning…’
You couldn’t read the rest of the words as the rain drenched the words to faded black, as he dropped the daises to the ground.

He lay there, fainted, as they did nothing to help him, the doctors barely noticing, and Jamie’s family, staring at him, not willing to pick him up. Finally, one doctor, the one with brown hair, walked over to him, and turned him over onto his back, softly. Shawn was slightly awake, but at the same time, feeling half dead. His eyes slightly opened, the light shining behind the doctor, his pupils getting smaller at the massive change of light. And he saw her, Jamie, picking him up and turning him over, feeling his head, not noticing the amount of people standing around him, watching, hoping in their deep and sinful thoughts, that he was dead. They prayed he would stop breathing, praying for his heart to give out due to a guilty conscience. For that split second, he stared at Jamie; his eyes were half closed, as his hands lifted and held the doctor’s wrists, as if holding onto his life. He pulled his eyelids open to reveal reality that it wasn’t Jamie. He turned onto his side and vomited out his guilt.
They stood listening to the words; these words didn’t seem correct, the air didn’t seem to clear in the vast hospital hallway, the words only echoed in their ears, and suddenly, the painful, quiet silence of her mother’s tears. Jamie’s parents stared down Shawn in the most disgusted way. Shawn’s sordid mind forced his eyes to turn away from them. He forcibly dragged his legs away from them, turning… the room spinning… and him collapsing onto the cold tile floors, wishing he could break in two.
Shawn wished he died in his car accident. He wished he never awoken from his coma. Shawn’s eyes did not avert from Nathan’s. Now, Nathan’s hands were tightly clasped around Shawn’s collar. He was so close to him, he could inhale his breath and lack of cologne. Shawn stared into Nathan’s eyes, trying to find a sparkle of redemption. He found emptiness. The emptiness he created. He things he stole from him; everything. The tension between their eyes teared them apart, as they both had to listen to the words, “I’m sorry, She didn’t make it. She’s gone.”
Shawn's body shook in the vast hospital as he watched the doctors place a white sheet over Jamie. Two doctors confronted him, "Mr. Lynings, what exactly happened?"
Shawn could barely speak, he did not know what happened. He did not know anything at all. "I... we- I don't know." The doctors both exchanged glances, than averted their eyes back to Shawn. "Can you please tell us, why the young lady was nude?"
"We had just had sex." The words came out, and spat him back in the face. The doctor with dark brown hair and matching brown eyes didn't looked very shocked, and the other, pale with blue eyes and almost white hair spoke with a heavy accent, "It seems her heart stopped."
"How? How can somebody's heart just stop?!"
The doctors stood discombobluated, and silent, before one of them whispered,
"We don't know."
"You don't know? What kind of a doctor are you?" Shawn whispered, but his eyes screamed.
There was a ding, and out came Jamie's family, her mother, her father, and Nathan. Nathan's eyes immediatly found Shawn's, in the speed of light, he ran to him and clutched his shoulders. Shawn felt his upper arms lose circulation from Nathan's force. Nathan leaned in close enough to kill Shawn and whispered with the promise of death, "What did you do?"
hey kids.

Shawn pulled Jamie into his bed; she was shivering, as he slid her wet clothes off of her body. “Let me warm you up,” he laughed, as he wrapped his arms tightly around Jamie. With the help of his bed sheets, she stopped shivering and began kissing him. It felt natural for her to take off his clothes, and to kiss him non-stop; quickly, and skipping breaths. Jamie pulled Shawn on top of her, and let what was held off so long, to occur. It was their first time, for both of them, even for Shawn, because this was different, this wasn’t sex, this was love.
When it was over, they lay beside each other, tired, and drifting off to sleep. A sleep deeper than they have ever experienced. For the first time in years, Shawn dreamt. It was in his vision that him and Jamie wed, that Brian never existed. That Jamie and him had several children, in a beautiful white house. The dream felt like he had died and went to heaven, all his wishes came true. He kept seeing Jamie’s face, older, smiling, then laughing. Happy together for the rest of their lives. His dream was so blissful, he felt like crying; a time when nothing can hurt him, nobody can touch him. His eyes awakened, confronting early morning, it was raining, and his heart felt like it was beating so quickly, as if it might erupt. He felt so delighted, so excited to tell Jamie his wonderful dream. He turned on his side, confronting her back. He touched her cold shoulder. “Jamie. Jamie! Wake up!” He shook her a little harder, but she didn’t budge. “Jamie…” He got out of bed and went to the other side to look her in the face. When he saw her, all he could concentrate on was her white face. “JAMIE!” He screamed, he shrieked her name, louder than he had ever used before. “Jamie, wake up!” He got up and immediately slid all the glass objects off the table, screeching as the precious crystal and expensive objects crashed into the floor. He ran to her side, “Jamie, it’s not funny anymore! It’s not funny! Stop it!” It was then, as the words left his mouth, that he smacked her across the face, letting her cheek expose the red blood which leaked out of it. He stood, shocked, “Jamie, I’m sorry,” he grabbed her head and hugged her, “I’m sorry, wake up…” He was bawling, “It’s not funny,” his voice was coarse and low from screaming. He felt himself shake as he dialed 911… he fainted as he whispered for an ambulance.
Shawn awakened to Jamie’s face, smooth, and delicate.
“Jamie…” He whispered, smoothing her wet cheeks, which were drenched because of the midnight rain.
Jamie tried to say something, but she just smiled.
“Hey, love.” Her voice was flowing, as if she had no more tears to cry. Her body was kneeled against his bed, as they waited for the words to come in silence. “I knew it wasn’t an accident.” Were the only words that seemed to come out of Jamie’s lips.
“Jamie, I’m sorry, there’s just so much you don’t know…”
“Shh…” She silenced him, and then began, “I’m sorry I yelled at you, I’m sorry I ran. I’m a coward.” Shawn immediately grabbed her, he embraced her as tightly as space would allow. “I’m sorry… I’m sorry…” He whispered in her ear. Her arms were still around him as she replied with “You know I’d die for you, right?”
Shawn smoothed Jamie’s hair out of her face, “You wouldn’t have to.”
Jamie opened the door to reveal John.
“Hey, sexy, you ready to go?”
She hated when guys called her sexy. She faked a smile and replied, “Of course.”
Her hair was tied high and straight, with a white long-sleeved shirt and dark jeans. Her makeup, she hadn’t looked this way since Shawn and her… she pushed the memory of him away. John drove her to the movies; he put on the type of music she despised, remembering singing with Shawn in the car; the summer days she wishes she could bring back. She swallowed her tears down, trying to have a grand time, pretending to like all the sweet talk John gave her. Pretending that John could make her forget… just for one second. If he could do that, that meant there was proof of God; proof of hope, of miracles… of anything. Her mind was distracted until they reached the movie theater. They both stepped into the cold air of the dark room, which lightened when previews of upcoming movies played. John chose where they sat, then seated himself down, smiling at Jamie in a deviously infatuated way. He stared at her back end as she sat down. As he held her hand, she unconsciously pretended he was Shawn. Then, the expected happened, he leaned his attractive face in to kiss her. Her eyes looked into his, but nothing matched the sparkle in Shawn’s. “What am I doing?” She asked herself, not long before she ran away, and didn’t stop the whole way until she got there.
Jamie awoke early in the morning and walked to the bathroom. She allowed the cold water to refresh her post-crying face, and then put on a sweater to relieve her skin of the chill of early October cold. Suddenly, something caught her eye, a paper, shoved underneath the door. Picking it up, knowing who it was from, it read:
Jamie, I love you.
Always,
Shawn.
Jamie crumpled the paper and threw it into the wastebasket. Then continued her day, like every other; going downstairs to get some breakfast.
Shawn was the only one awake in Nathan’s vast house. The only noises were the occasional distant cars, and Nathan’s soft breathing. Shawn lifts his pained body up and limps to Jamie’s door. For a while, he stands there, tracing his fingers along the door, trying to hear her; hear anything in the darkness of their hallway. His hand clutches the handle and turns it slowly to avoid a creaking sound. But the knob refused to turn. Jamie knew him far too well; she locked him out, her knowledge knowing he would try to sneak into her room. Shawn exhaled, disappointed. He felt like he lost her, like he already lost her. He stayed by her door and sat against it, his ear pressed onto the door, listening hard for any movement. Though he was there, he was gone at the very same time.
On the other side of the door was Jamie. Her eyes lay open in bed, staring at her dresser, but not exactly looking at it. Her hearing picked up Shawn’s subtle movements outside the door she refused to open. They both knew they were listening to each other, they both felt themselves awake. Jamie cried until she couldn’t hear Shawn anymore.
Nathan led Shawn up the stairs, holding his arm, walking up slowly. Jamie immediately retreated to the kitchen where she sat on the counter and cried.
When Shawn and Nathan finally got all the way up the stairs, Shawn collapsed on Nathan’s bed, exhaling deeply. Nathan looked to Shawn and laughed.
“I hope you don’t think we’re sleeping together tonight.” He laughed.
Shawn snickered for the first time, it felt. They laughed together somewhat awkwardly. Nathan sat beside him, staring.
“Can’t believe you’re here, man.” Nathan said, almost too low to be heard.
“Heh, me neither.” Shawn replied, as if the words were too complicated to say/
“So what’s been happening?” Nathan asked.
“Oh, not much, same old just woke up from a coma. Hahahaha, what do you think, Nathan? Nothing!” Shawn laughed.
“Haha. I’m so dumb. Forget I said that.”
“Already have.”
A few seconds passed before Shawn asked how Nathan was. They spoke for a long while about the things they missed out on… How Nathan’s girlfriend broke up with him because of her sudden realization that she was lesbian… How he talked to Shawn in his sleep… The way he thought he’d never come back…
Just then, Jamie appeared at the door. She stood, as the others stared at her.
“Hey.” She broke the silence.
“Hey.” Shawn and Nathan replied in unison, quickly and nervously.
Her eyes had been red, and the water on her cheeks had been wiped off, creating a perfect illusion and lie that she had not been crying.
She then realized she had nothing to say, and continued to her room.
Nathan looked back to Shawn. “Man. Ever since the accident, she’s been so strange lately. I’m telling you, it killed me to see her like that.”
“Explain.” Was the only word Shawn managed to say.
Nathan explained, “…so I wake up to my mother shaking me. She kept saying she was sorry, as if she had done something wrong. Then she said the worst words in the nicest possible way. ‘There was an accident.’ She kept trying to explain but the only words I got were that you were in the hospital. I was freaking out, so I asked her to leave. I put my pants on and opened my door. And there it was, Jamie’s door. It was completely closed and uninterrupted. Nobody had told her, I kept asking myself if I should go to the hospital myself, and not tell her, just let her sleep one more night. So I tell myself, fuck it, and I open her door, I practically sprint to her bedside. And there she is, just sleeping silently. I only had to stare before she awoke. “What is it?” She asked. I was expecting her to scream and cry when I told her what happened, but she just sat up in bed, listening. The only words she said were ‘Take me to the hospital.’”
Nathan paused before he could continue again. It was obviously difficult for him to retrace exact detail from that horrid night. He went on, “So we’re in the car and I’m like rushing and freaking out, but she’s just sitting there, leaning against the window, waiting patiently. I was speeding, so she looks at me and says silently, ‘Slow down, you wouldn’t want to end up in a car accident, Nathan.’ I just stare at her for a minute, and then continue driving; passing all the red lights I could, pretending not to see all the stop signs. And of course, I land myself a ticket. We eventually get there and I go into the hospital and ask to see you. And of course, you’re in desperate need of medical attention and cannot be seen. We wait in the waiting room for about four hours before we can finally see you. I ended up falling asleep on Jamie, but she stayed awake the entire time. We both walk to room 647. Right before I walked in, I told Jamie I couldn’t do it. That I couldn’t go in. She just looks at me and walks in fearlessly. When I was ready, I looked through the window, and she just stood there next to your bedside. You looked terrible, man. Bruises were everywhere, I mean, if you saw yourself like that, you would die of shock. I can’t believe you survived. All I could do was stare at my sister. The look on her face, man… I can’t explain. I’ve never seen her not smiling. Are you crying, dude?”
Shawn wiped some tears away and laughed it off. “Shut up, and keep going.”
“So she came and visited you every single day for the past three months. The rest of the summer she did nothing. When visiting hours were over, she’d wait in the waiting room until a nurse kicked her out or something. And when she was at home, all she did was sleep. She barely ate anything. After a month or so, everyone began to think of you as a dead man. But not her. She eventually began eating when she got to school, and of course, a bunch of guys were all over her, they kept trying to be that shoulder to cry on, but she’s not stupid, ya know? There’s this one guy, named John. He keeps on calling her and taking her out. Like, he was there for her through all of this. He keeps trying to take your place. I mean, god. What a fuckin’ jackass.”
Nathan pushed Shawn’s wheelchair outside, with Shawn expecting a burst of sunlight. But instead, Shawn confronted a cloudy sky, holding heavy water just begging to fall.
“You okay, buddy?” Nathan asked awkwardly.
“Yeah… just a little dizzy.” Replied Shawn, quietly.
Jamie looked to Shawn, a sad look on her face. She despised viewing him in a wheelchair, she was still getting used to looking at him awake. Shawn looked to her and smiled, Jamie faked a smile back. She fought the tears back.
The way back to Jamie’s house was silent. They drove past a graveyard, Shawn kept imagining that he would’ve been there right now, this second, he could’ve been gone. His eyes shut, avoiding the tears that were sure to come. His head rested on the window until the long way back home. Jamie didn’t look at him the entire time.
“I was so afraid I lost you.”
Jamie whispered to him. Shawn’s mind was in utter disarray. From a failed suicide to almost loosing Jamie to missing his summer entirely. For it was well into October, now. Shawn ran his fingers through Jamie’s hair, and kissed her forehead. “You were here every single night, weren’t you? I heard you talking to me.”
Jamie’s face turned into a sympathetic smile as she smoothed Shawn’s cheek, he hadn’t shaved for three months, so his soft skin was replaced by hair. But it didn’t matter. He was still perfect to Jamie. She nodded in response to his question.
“I’m getting you out of here.” She decided.
Shawn laughed. “How?”
“My parents are signing you out as we speak.”
“Jamie, they don’t have to do that.”
Jamie smiled, “It was their idea. You get to sleep over!” Then she giggled as a little girl would.
Shawn said with the same intensity as her, “Yay!” And then winked at her before kissing her again.
After a while of them talking and catching up with each other, Nathan walked in. His hands were in his pockets and he looked stiff. When Shawn saw him, Shawn immediately put his hand all the way up and shrieked “NAY-THAAAAN!”
Nathan’s stiffness diminished, he knew Shawn was back. He didn’t know how to react, so he yelled back “Shawny-boy!” The situation felt weird to Nathan, he missed him so much, but over the weeks, he saw Shawn as dead. Nobody said he would make it. Everyone still thought it was an accident, not a deliberate outcome.
Shawn’s eyes forced themselves open to confront the reality of his tattered body in a hospital bed. The first he saw was the light gray walls, and the window closed. It must have been late at night. Jamie was at his bedside, sleeping. She must have been there for hours. Shawn caressed her hair and immediately, she awoke. Her eyes were red, as if she had been crying for years. Her makeup wasn’t even on anymore. Shawn kept wondering where he was, trying to retrace everything that happened. But everything was so distant, he couldn’t reach it.
“Oh my god, Shawn…” Jamie grabbed him, hugging him as tight as possible without suffocating him, disregarding the fact that he had just came out of a terrible car accident.
“Jamie… I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t have yelled at you. I’m a jackass… I’m such a-”
Jamie’s fingers touched Shawn’s lips as she whispered “Shh, shh…” And she kissed him deeply, crying at the same time. Shawn moved aside and let her lay next to him. He felt his body ache as he moved, oblivious to what happened. “Shawn, I’m so sorry. This is my entire fault… if I wasn’t so stupid and dramatic, you wouldn’t be here.”
Shawn didn’t look in her eyes as he heard her say those words. A nurse walked in just then, wearing blue nurse attire. She walked over to Shawn’s bedside. “Well about time you woke up, handsome.” Shawn smiled awkwardly. “How long have I been asleep? Three hours?”
The nurse looked to Jamie, then back at Shawn. Jamie’s eyes fell to her hands.
“More like three months.”
“What?”
“You’ve been in a coma.” The nurse said, expecting him to have figured that out.
“How? What the hell… what happened to me?”
Jamie sighed, her eyes watering once again. The nurse didn’t answer; she simply walked out, clearly not being able to handle the pressure. Shawn looked to Jamie, who had been fiddling with her fingers, her head down. “There was a car accident.”
Then, as if she had said the magic words, everything from that night flashed before him, recreating the entire scene perfectly. His flashback lasted right before he saw himself crash into a pole, then the rest was gone.
