“I was so afraid I lost you.”
Jamie whispered to him. Shawn’s mind was in utter disarray. From a failed suicide to almost loosing Jamie to missing his summer entirely. For it was well into October, now. Shawn ran his fingers through Jamie’s hair, and kissed her forehead. “You were here every single night, weren’t you? I heard you talking to me.”
Jamie’s face turned into a sympathetic smile as she smoothed Shawn’s cheek, he hadn’t shaved for three months, so his soft skin was replaced by hair. But it didn’t matter. He was still perfect to Jamie. She nodded in response to his question.
“I’m getting you out of here.” She decided.
Shawn laughed. “How?”
“My parents are signing you out as we speak.”
“Jamie, they don’t have to do that.”
Jamie smiled, “It was their idea. You get to sleep over!” Then she giggled as a little girl would.
Shawn said with the same intensity as her, “Yay!” And then winked at her before kissing her again.
After a while of them talking and catching up with each other, Nathan walked in. His hands were in his pockets and he looked stiff. When Shawn saw him, Shawn immediately put his hand all the way up and shrieked “NAY-THAAAAN!”
Nathan’s stiffness diminished, he knew Shawn was back. He didn’t know how to react, so he yelled back “Shawny-boy!” The situation felt weird to Nathan, he missed him so much, but over the weeks, he saw Shawn as dead. Nobody said he would make it. Everyone still thought it was an accident, not a deliberate outcome.
