Hey well, they are telling us that the temperature today will be 30 celsius - like 90 fahrenheit - and it's June here in .za, which is the bleak mid-winter. On Monday it was only about 14, which is about right for June, but 30 today? Woohoo! Beach, here I come! And from my office window here at the University hospital in Cape Town, you can see right across the bay and the sea looks like glass. The harbour and the bay right out to Robben Island is absolutely flat with a very slight ripple off Milnerton Beach where the lagoon and the sea meet. Couple that with windless, cloudless skies - a bit of smog as well, unfortunately - and hot damn, I intend to get my kit off and frolic! Of course, even in mid-summer here, when the temperature is in the high 30s, the sea is always fucking freezing, so I am anticipating 5 minutes of numbing-up preparation before enjoying the water; but summer in winter is not something to be sniffed at and ain't nothing going to spoil this for me. laters
