Listening to: South - Loosen your hold
Feeling: hellagood
heya
so it's Friday - big weekend ahead. Okay no, not really - surprise party for one of my karate guys tonight who is turning twenty; Euro 2004 football tournament starts tomorrow (go Netherlands) in Portugal and I'm working sunday morning at Hell's Video Store at our branch in Table View, where the kids are on more drugs than their parrents, but only just.
Seriously, it's a beautiful part of Cape Town - right on our Atlantic coast (although the water is always fucking cold); but the people there are w-e-i-r-d. It's like wandering around in the Village of the Damned. Probably because they are flanked by the sea on the west side, and a fertiliser plant, a petrol refinery and a sewage treatment plant on the east side. Can always tell which way the wind blows in Table View, man.
And of course Table View and Edgemead (which is where I live and went to school) are arch-rivals. The denizens of that particular pit can also smell Dirty Foreigners (as in everyone not from the confines of their own little in-bred gene pool). Every time okes from the 'mead head out into Table View - whether to the beach, the gym there, the movies, the malls, or to one of the pool halls or nightclubs or restaurants, there's always trouble. Fact of life, I suppose... still, traded my shift at our store for Sunday morning in theirs so I can get together with my dodgy mates and get pissed watching England get thumped by France on Sunday night at Euro2004, so it should at least be worth the discomfort.
In other news, Claire is still resisting my wily charms; but I sense a breakthrough is coming... she's tentatively invited me to supper at her place next week sometime... she is a bit of a vegetarian, and therefore a bit didgy, but still hottttttt. So I reckon just maybe I am *in* finally :) hold thumbs for me, everybody.
