hey Well, it seems the sky has finally figured out what season it is - following Monday's frolicking in the mild (which is a first, since it's normally 'nads-off freezing) waters of the southern Atlantic in pleasant sunshine, the heavens have clouded over and opened up and washed Cape Town clean overnight. Continuing suchlike through Sunday. Which is good - we are looking at water restrictions since the dams are all fairly low. But it's also bad - Justin's surprise farewell event is tonight, with about 80 people going to have to huddle in a fairly cramped small lounge since the garden will be rather damp and undoubtedly getting wetter. Still, such is life; such is the inherent way of things, and, hey, who doesn't want to get up close to one of the elderly biddies who will probably be in attendance? Nevertheless, onward! Man, did we get drilled at karate last night. Twice around the sodding sports fields; 3 minutes of mini hell at 12 of our exercise points and all sorts of horrid shit. But my team did win the nightly ShuhariBall game, so that's a plus; and fine ShuhariBall we played, too - it was like watching the Brazilians play football! Or like watching the Brazliians play ShuhariBall, I suppose. The name ShuhariBall may seem unfamiliar to you, and rightly so - the Shuhari Karate Club of Cape Town invented it. It's kinda like Volleyball; but with two different colour balls and played over a net the same height as a tennis net on a Badminton-sized court; anywhere between 2 and 6 people on a team (although 3-4 works best, depending on the style you play). Intrigued? I thought you might be! It's really good fun to play - you should all take it up.
