A New Beginning

I can’t believe it’s already been over a week since classes started. So far I’ve managed to keep up with my homework load, although I’m really missing my British English textbook which is somewhere in the mail system. I’ll probably have to buy one at the bookstore then return it as soon as my copy comes in. Hopefully it will come in soon so that they don’t make me wait until the end of the semester and then only give me the sale back price for it! I wonder if I could sale the copy that I’m buying off of the internet back to the bookstore, probably could, although I might bet a better price for it on-line. I’ll have to price it out. I think this year is going to be better than last year. I’m going to be more involved this year with IWA, Institute Women’s Association, and I’ve already had some fun with the people in my apartment. We played this card game called ‘Munchkin’ which is a rather funny rip-off of ‘Dungeons and Dragons.’ I actually won the game. Everyone was too busy trying to keep Amethyst from winning that they didn’t even notice me sneaking up from behind! That’s just one of the advantages of being quite I guess, no one suspects you of anything, hee hee. I also went to a Muslim Fest last Saturday. It was a slight let down though because there were very few people there and it was actually more of a multi-cultural event. I did learn some things there. Apparently they are building a walled area in Israel to keep the Palestine people in, that will keep them away from the major water sources. It’s sad how many walls have been put up in the world for such awful purposes. Berlin is the first that I can think, then there was one in South Africa for all the black people, and now we have one going up in Israel and one going up on the Southern border of the United States. I suppose it’s better than just shooting the Hispanics who are trying to cross illegally, oh wait, we have troops there, never mind then. I really think we need to do something about the illegal immigration problem other than building a wall, shooting at people, and deporting people who have been here for years without causing any major problems. I really think that they should give the illegal immigrants the option of paying a fine and paying for some government run “schooling” of some kind that would help them to become a legal immigrant The IWA Opening Social is tonight. We’re going to be lip-synching and ‘dancing’ with flashlights to a rather soulful version of “This Little Light of Mine,” for the opening entertainment. We’re going to look like a bunch of idiots. It’ll be great! We’re going to try to get some of the guys to serve us food at our opening banquet which is coming up in a bit. We’re offering them free food, so hopefully some of them will sign up for it and come. ~Amyelk Out
