today, while driving home from no place in particular, something curious happened. i was slowing down, approaching a common stoplight, when suddenly it went dark. then, not seconds afterward, every streetlight, house light, business sign, and various other lights of all sorts darkened as well. i continued on through the now unlit stoplight, only slightly yielding to glance for cross traffic, and proceeded to drive on down one black street and right into another and into another. the town was darker than i had ever seen it before, naked and genuine in its darkness. dressed in a rare sincerity and draped in an unabashed brilliance unseen for nineteen years, this town glowed and i ventured through it. it was one of the most terrific sights i had seen in some time.
