it smells like death in here

today, while delivering medications, i noticed that most of the nursing homes have old people in wheel chairs, unattended, slowly coasting down the halls and through the rooms to wherever it is that they go. most of these specimens have a sickly humorous look of confusion and dazedness on their faces. i like to think of each and every one of them as movable vegetables just about to be plucked from their vine. but not tomatoes or any other similar roundish vegetable, for they would coast and roll far too fast down the hallways, actually making some significant progress, whereas this variety of human shows more resemblance to a squash maybe, not quite rolling in a straight line, a little wobbly, but with a wee bit of trial and error, eventually reaching their destination with an inelegance that could only be achieved by the elderly. anyway, i just thought i'd share that.
