For those of you who don't know, Warhammer is a tabletop wargame, using armies represented by small models of figures, vehicles, and all manner of war engines and creatures. The models must be built and painted by each gamer, and that is half the fun of being in the hobby to begin with. Indeed, many are interested solely in the creation of awesome looking models. But the rest use their models in games to fight and kill. They are inanimate, of course, so the ebb and flow of battle is determined by rolling simple six sided dice. Many a time large handfuls of dice are needed, and if you are a truly crazy player you will require a bucket for the unit of death you've unleashed on your opponent. You move your pieces and attack your enemy's; much like chess, but think of it more as chess on steroids. Imagine scenes from the Lord of the Rings movies or like from Starship Troopers and Aliens - that is what you are creating, only it's in the mind's eye it actually happens. Therefore the best players are those with a good imagination and quick mind, not to mention good sportsmanship, because this hobby is really also a social thing. It's like your mom's saturday knitting gatherings, or dad's sunday afternoon game with his pals. Eat pizza or other food, then beat the snot out of each other in a game. It's really quite fun and relaxing, depending if your opponent is a good sport. People that whine and complain about every little thing, or who take the fun out of the game/life don't make good gamers - or friends for that matter. I mean, how many people do you know are annoying, pessimistic, whining sob's that think everything should go their way are your good friends? Sure some people find company in such people, but I dunno, I prefer not to. Keeps my life good. Life may be good for them in all their complaints on life etc, but it isn't mine and I don't want it on me. Hmmmmmmmm, now that I've been a commercial for Games Workshop (the company that makes warhammer games etc), I shall let tell me what you think.
