Ah. Last week I busted ass for six days, catching me some overtime and roasting in the sun. However, it was quite worth it, as July 4th and 5th I took off. I went down to see Nicole and had a wonderful weekend. First we went to our hotel in Dekalb, which, having paid only $54 for, was quite extravagant. Some nice things, like a cushion by the window to sit or lay on. Kinda like an inset bay window. I liked it, and so did Nicole. After we got there it stormed torrentially, with extremely high winds and strong rain and such, so we simply stayed in and watched tv for a while, relaxing and finally feeling better after we both had crappy weeks.
Around 5 we returned to her house to pick up her brother and we went over to Dave's house. Dave is Nicole and her brother's friend. Dave's friend Jimmy also came along, but he drove himself. From then on Dave drove, as where we were headed was going to be packed and my baby didn't want to deal with the nonsense there. So we got there and found out that, unless we were citizens of St. Charles, we had to pay $10 to park. Instead we found a parking garage to hide in and were set, although the park where we'd be for the evening was a good walk away. So we were there, and it starts drizzling. Not hard rain, just miserable. So everything got damp (I didn't mind of course, I'm used to it) but Nicole got cold and didn't feel well. The other guys had up and left, thinking I had heard their passing remark that they were leaving, which I didn't. Even so, they left the city completely (well, might as well have)to go to Meijer and get some chips and a couple small diecast trucks. We didn't find this out until having waited for a long time for them to return, Nicole called them. Needless to say she was very unhappy, as they had left her out in the rain when they had gone inside and didn't tell her they would be doing so. I believe I would be angry too. In the meantime I got her some coffee and myself some hot chocolate to fend off the chill, though it didn't work so well for her.
They came back and things went back to normal. Dave was telling stories while my love and I were watching the sun go down. Some little girl near to us looked at me and said, pointing with a stick "I kill your head!" giggled, then went back to playing games with her sister. I thought that was amusing.
Late, around 9:35 the fireworks started. They were amazing. Many, many pounds of munitions were thrown into the air that night. All sorts were to be found, including some smiley face ones. I thought those were great. I got to thinking "How do they pack them so they explode and fly in certain ways?" Then near the end one exploded on the ground, much to the launchers' surprise I imagine. After that everyone went home, and Nicole and I returned to our hotel for the night.
We woke up the next morning all comfortable and didn't want to get up, but we had to to get our complimentary breakfast. It wasn't all day. Donut holes, danishes, juices. Very tasty. After that we headed to Target to return a watch, then to Border's, where I found a book called The Knight, which so far...is interesting. Lol. I don't know what else to say, other than it's very different than something I would expect.
We ate lunch at Portillos, us both trying their hotdogs, which was a pleasant experience. From there we went to the park we both like. It was nice weather, and we were comfortable. Of course, such pretty things can't last and we had an arguement. I got some things off my chest and so did she, I think. Anyways, we were able to rconcile that, as we have always done when our few arguements came up. We then went for ice cream at DQ, talking and calming. After a spell I came home to get ready for work again. Ugh.
On that note, work hasn't been all that bad. Annoying, when we keep getting bumped over to the waterpark and can't do our own jobs. Grr. Otherwise fine though.
Overall I feel content at the moment.
