It took me about 2 hours to wrap all my gifts. When I finished I went downstairs. Janine was still in the kitchen “You alright Hil, you don’t look so good� she asked. “Yah I’m fine…� I lied. Janine walked over and gave me a hug. “Everything is going to be okay… you will see!� she said. I smiled; Janine was like a mother to me. She always has been even when my mother was still alive. Janine cared about me and she always wanted to see my report cards and stuff. Once she tutored me because I was going to fail grade 8 if I didn’t get a passing grade on my last science test. “Robbie is watching a movie in the family room if you want to sit with him.� I got up and walked into the family room. I saw the Christmas tree. It was sparkling with tinsel and lights and ornaments, there was even some that I brought form my house. I sat down beside Robbie and he put his arm around me. I dozed off and when I woke up I was lying on the couch with a blanket over me. I looked over at the clock on the metal. It read 5:30; I could smell something really good. I got up and walked into the kitchen. Robbie was still there and Anna and Janine were over by the stove. “I was just about ready to come and wake you up for dinner.� Robbie said. Keera came downstairs and we all went into the dining room. The table was covered with food. We all sat down and piled everything on our plates. I ate more then I had ever eaten before. We finished and cleaned off the table. Then we put all the leftovers in the fridge. It was about 8 when we finished. “Why don’t everyone get each others presents and bring them down stairs and put them under the tree.� Keera asked. We all agreed and carried our presents downstairs. Robbie had his family’s presents in the car. They were all coming over tomorrow afternoon. We all stayed in the family room and talked for a couple of hours. At around 11:30 I was tired so I went to bed. I could hear everyone laughing from downstairs. About an hour later I was almost asleep and I heard my door open. It was Robbie, “Is it okay if I spend another night here?� he asked. “Sure…� I felt so stupid… I wanted to say a lot of things but they just wouldn’t come out right… fuck. He climbed in beside me and put his arms around me. “Aren’t you going to spend Christmas with your family?� I asked quietly. “I would rather be here with you guys… you need a man in this house to protect you guys, I don’t want you gone again. Hil when you were gone I was so worried. Every night I couldn’t sleep. I cried for hours, I love you so much and I couldn’t live without you any longer. I want you to be in my arms forever. If you had died I would have killed myself just so I could be with you in heaven…� his voice started to trail off. I was in shock. I never realized how much he loved me. I thought this was more of a friendship then a romance but then I realized that I loved him more then words could ever explain. I couldn’t say a word. “Sorry Hilary that was a stupid thing to say.� Robbie said and he got up but I grabbed his hand. “Stay here with me…� I whispered. I couldn’t talk or else I would have started crying. “Hilary I love you but I don’t think you feel the same way I do.� He was in tears. He walked to the door but I followed. “Don’t go.� I said and I broke down. Robbie lent down and put his arms around me. “Don’t cry Hilary. Every tear that falls from your eyes is like a bullet going into my back.� I looked blankly at him. His eyes were filled with tears. I moved closer to him and kissed him. “I love you Robbie.� I whispered in his ear. I could feel his heart beating faster and faster. He picked me up like a baby and put me on my bed. He bent down and we started to make out. The rest of the night was history….
