Erica’s Mom answered the door. "Hi I’m Jayme, is Erica Home?" I asked. Her mom looked around outside and led me to Erica’s room. I had never been in her house before. I walked in Erica’s room and she was lying on her bed starring at the ceiling. I sat down on her bed. "Erica I have something to confess. I came here last night looking for you. I heard you screaming so I went around to the side of the house and saw a man hitting you. I’m sorry I did that but I needed to know that you were okay." I just starred at her, hoping for an answer. She sat up and spilled everything. The man who was there was her father. He wanted her to come back and live with him but she said no and he hit her. She told me something else. Her mother had decided that they needed to move again because she didn’t want Erica’s father finding them. They were going to move across seas to England to live with her grandmother. I was in total shock and Erica was just sitting there. All the life from her had been drained. "Jayme, You have been the best friend I have ever had and I really don’t want to leave. For once I felt like I was wanted and liked by someone. I have never had a friend as good as you." A tear fell down Erica’s pale cheek. I started to cry too. I gave her a hug. "We will always be friends Erica. No matter how many miles we are apart." "Thanks Jayme, I really needed to hear that." We spent all day looking through this small scrapbook Erica made from the time she came here. We laughed at our inside jokes and remembered some of the best times we shared. There was even a picture of us in the hospital from when I was there. It was my favourite picture I was sitting up in the hospital bed and Erica was there beside me with her head on my shoulder holding one of the pink daisies from the bouquet my father gave me. There were numerous photo booth pictures from the mall and some of them were hilarious. At around seven o’clock I realized that I didn’t go back to school. I didn’t care though. Then at about ten I knew it was time for me to leave. "Wait before you go Jayme I have something for you." She pulled out a box from under her bed and it was decorated with beads and jewels and a bunch of different things. I was tied shut with a black and blue ribbon. I opened the box and there was a scrapbook identical to Erica’s. I smiled and gave her a hug. "I will see you at school tomorrow." I yelled back to Erica. She was just there waving. I drove home and went through the scrapbook. I was in tears reading it. I finally fell asleep. When I woke up it was 7 am and I got dressed and went to school. My style of clothes was starting to change and so was Nikole’s. We were dressing more like Erica and listening to the same music she listened to. I had black pants and a Blink t-shirt on. When I got to school I went searching for Erica...
