So, over the weekend, I watched this movie called "Good Morning, Vietnam" starring Robin Williams. For those who haven't seen it, Robin plays as an early morning radio dj in Saigon, Vietnam. Well, as the movie played on, these American soldiers were pushing 3 Vietnamise people into an alley. One tried to resist, but he got beaten and then was shoved against the wall. The next thing you know, they're dead on the ground, chest full of bullets. Right then, at that moment, I thought of the Nazis killing the Jews during WW2. You know, how the Nazis would just line them up and then slaughter them.
Americans are Nazis.
Turns out, the 3 Vietnamise civilians were terrorists. But an interesting thing came up in the movie. Robin befriends a Vietnamise civilian, who also turns out to be a V-C terrorist. Robin is screaming at him on how he befriended him, defended him in a bar and all, and he turns out to be the enemy.
The V-C screams back:
"I am not the enemy. You are 3,000 miles away from home. You come to our land and start killing our families, friends and neighbors. You take advantage of our women. Do not call me the enemy when it is YOU that is the enemy!"
Kinda put things in perspective.
Then I thought of our U.S. troops in Iraq. How they are over there, trying to defend our rights and make Iraq a better place for its civilians, but they keep getting attacked. Why? Because the Iraqis are raving lunatics? No.....to them, we are the enemy. Think about it, they attack us, we go over there and we start roaming their streets and I believe we are doing our danmdest to make things better for them in OUR minds, but we are the enemy to them.
Its funny really...we're always saying things on how we are the a good country. We let people decide for themselves, we have a fair criminal justice system or whatever BS the government can think of. But not too long ago, didn't news get out about how U.S. soldiers did somethings to Iraqi prisoners? It kinda makes me wonder what image that gives us now.
How are we a good country when we horrible people living right next door to us? It kinda ashames me to know that I live in a great country such as this, but I have people like that defending my right.
I wonder what made them think that they can treat another human like that. I don't care if they hate us for what we are or if they are on the other side...they are still human. I don't think its about beliefs any more. I think people are letting things get way out of hand.
Humans are weird. We believe we are devils trying to be angels, when, in fact, the reverse is true.
What makes us-America-believe we are better than everybody else, when we do things like this?
