At around ten, Jesse and Kelsey went up to check if Aries was still going at it. Jesse opened the door to the sound booth and saw Aries past out in her chair. He laughed and Kelsey smiled. He walked over to his sister and picked her up like a baby. Kelsey held the door open and he carried her to bed.
"She can sleep in her clothes." whispered Kelsey as Jesse climbed the ladder carefully with Aries still in his arms. He placed her gently on her bed and walked to the door with Kelsey. They almost never used the door upstairs because that would involve passing their parents. They always used the back door, even if friends came over they were always told to go to the back and down the stairs.
"You don't have to walk me home." said Kelsey as she slipped on her pink flip flops.
"I know, but I want to." said Jesse as they walked out the door. They walked up the outside stairs and to the fence. Jesse held open the fence and they both walked out to the driveway. The walked slowly across the street and up Kelsey's driveway. A drop hit Kelsey's blonde hair and she jumped.
"Thanks for walking me home. Although you didn't have to." said Kelsey in her voice that made Jesse's heart skip two beats. He couldn't speak ; he just nodded. She walked into the door of her dark house and smiled at Jesse before she left.
Jesse ran back to his house as it was starting to pour and he knew Aries would be waking up soon. If he wasn't there he knew she would start to panic. He ran down the stairs and through the door. Jesse wucikly cleaned up and turned off all the lights in the basement and went to their room. He pulled off his shorts leaving him standing there in his boxers. He walked over to Aries to make sure she was asleep before climbing into bed himself. He couldn't sleep. There was too much going through his mind.
At that momment the sky lit up and a loud crack of thunder shook the house. He just lay staring at his sisters' bed across the room. All of a sudden Aries shot up and frantically looked around. She lay slowly back down and pulled the blanket over her head.
Aries was scared of one thing, and one thing only; thunderstorms. She didn't know why, she was just plain terrified of them. After the next crack of thunder tears started pouring down her cheeks. Jesse heard the muffled sound of his sister's tears. So, he climbed down from his bed and over to her bed and climbed up.
Most people would think it's incest sleeping with your sister, but Jesse knew that she appreciated what he was doing. Ever since they were little, Jesse would always go into her room and sleep with her if there was a thunderstorm just so she wouldn't die of fear, he still continued that today. He let his arms fall around her tiny body and he held his sister tight. She cuddled up to her brother and sobbed to him.
"Shhh... It's okay." He whispered in her ear. Aries turned over and burried her head into Jesse's chest and cried. She wasn't crying just because of the thunderstorm, it was so much more. Her brother just seemed to take all her troubles away and save her from her nightmares. He knew she was crying for a reason other then thunder, but he didn't know what. He just knew he had to be there for her, and wait until she was ready to tell him.
Jesse didn't sleep until he knew that Aries was asleep. It wasn't until then that he let his eyes close and drift off into sleep.
Ummm you may not have understood that but whatever.
