Echo jumped up and rushed to the phone. Vally just kind of sat there staring into space.
"Hellooooo?" said Echo into the phone dragging the 'o' a little bit to long.
"Oh hey Nate! How are you?" Echo also had a tendency to start up a full conversation when someone called, even if it wasn't for her. Sam almost dropped the pancake mix she was pulling out of the cupboard and grabbed the phone from Echo.
"Hey Nate. Sorry about her. What's up?" Sam started waiting so patiently to hear his voice on the other line.
"Hey Sammie, I just called to tell you I'll be flying into Vancouver Air Port on friday at around 2ish." He said, Sam felt like screaming and crying. She could tell the excitement in his voice as well.
"Alright, are you going to need me to pick you up?" She started chewing on her sweater to keep her from squealing with joy.
"That would be awesome. I'm flying into- wait one second, let me check my ticket, I am landing in gate 14A. I'll be looking for you there."
"Okay Nate, I'll see you then, can't wait!"
"Me neither, bye Sammie!"
"Bye!"
And that was it, Sam started screaming and jumping up and down so fast that if she had a basement she would probably break the floor and fall right in it.
Friday, that was only two days away. She could wait that long, but she knew they were going to be the longest days of her life but still, she couldn't wait all the same.
"He's comming on Friday!" Sam cried out to her sisters that were now looking at her like she would need to be put in a straightjacket and a rubber room. Echo jumped up and started screaming, she was excited, she also knew how much it meant to Sam that he was comming and she also knew how much she deserved something like that.
Val smiled and went to her room. Although she was happy for her sister, Sam knew she wasn't in the mood for celebrating. Then for the next hour Sam and Echo danced around the kitchen singing their mother's favoruite song. She used to sing all the time, especially when she was cooking, she also ahd a beautiful voice. Echo and Sam had inherited that as well. Sometimes Val felt left out because she was the only child that was like their father.
It made her jealous most of the time.
After they ate Val went out with some of her friends, and Echo had some of her friends over to watch movies. That's when Sam decided to take her board out and go surfing. The swells were great and she was determined to get at least an hour in today.
She took of her tank top and threw it on the small back deck and grabbed her pink roxy designed board she had received for christmas. Paddling out into the water made her wish that Nate was there even more. They could paddle out together and wait for the perfect wave.
After she got out far enough she hopped up and rode quickly to shore. She went out about three more times until she saw Alex and Chelsey waving at her from the shore. She rushed ashore when she saw them.
"Hey Sammie!" said Chelsey as Sam ran towards them.
"Heyyy!"
"We just came by to see if you wanted to chill." said Alex. Alex was her best friend. They were polar opposites but got along really well. Alex was 'gangsta' as everyone called her and never listened to any of the surf music Sam listened to. She was more of the dancehall-raggae type.
That was probably why they were such good friends.
"Do you want to come over to Braedan's with us? He's having a few people over."
"Sure just let me get dressed." She rushed inside and pulled her hair back and grabbed a new tank and shorts.
On the walk to Braedan's Sam told Chelsey and Alex about how Nate was comming and they just looked at each other and smiled. They knew it was the best thing for Sam. Neither of them had saw her this happy in a long time. The shine had come back to her eyes and she was smiling like a little girl who just got kissed on the cheek.
When they got there Braedan and Corey were having a very violent game of xBox. They always played the same racing game and they even had the same cars. Every single time.
"Drinks are in the fridge ladiess!" Corey said as Alex kissed him on the cheek. They weren't officialy a couple, but they 'acted' like it. More along the lines of friends with benefits, but they had always been like that so no one ahd a problem with it.
Sam grabbed 5 coolers out of the fridge and passed them around. They all drank like sailors whenever they were together. They all had other friends and the group was larger at times but usualy it was the five of them, and they weren't the same around everyone else. Sam also didn't like drinking around anyone else because she sometimes drank a little too much and didn't trust some of the guys Braedan and Corey hung around, but she trusted them.
Alex on the other hand was different. She had the reputation of being 'easy' and it didn't matter who she was around. Even if she didn't know the people, and Chelsey barely drank enough to even feel a buzz.
Everyone was different and everyone else respected that.
Lately it had been a little tense between Braedan and Sam. About a month ago they had a few too many drinks together at a party and ended up having sex which both of the regretted just as much as the other. None the less they were still friends, and Braedan still came to her house almost every day and spent the night almost three times a week.
It just felt kind of awkward sometimes.
