;Chapter 23

Jesse couldn't take in everything that had happened in the past twelve hours. He didn't remember most of it, and the doctor said that when something that overwhelms you so much, very quickly, could possibly make you forget everything that happened. Like your mind didn't want to think that it happened. That's what happened to Jesse. A social worker explained it to him, as their parents couldn't even speak. He was told he walked into the bathroom and saw Aries passed out on the floor, surrounded in blood and started to scream. His mother heard him and ran down, almost passed out hereslf but had enough strength to get to the phone and call 911. They were taken to the hospital by the police because his mother wasn't able to stand up let alone drive, and that brought the story to the present. Aries was in surgery and they needed his blood to save her. "Jesse you have identical blood. If you agree you can save her life." said the doctor, still in full scrubs, as he basically ran out from the operation room himself saying they needed more blood and she had lost more then they had suspected. That was all Jesse needed to hear, he sat down on a chair and just rolled up his sleve. "Anything to save her..." His whispered with tears rolling down his cheeks. They took almost three full bags of blood and rushed back into the emergency. He must have passed out because when he woke up he was at home, in his bed. He sat up rubbing his head, thinking it was all a dream. Jesse wondered if everything that happened with Aries was all a dream, and he had to make sure. Jesse walked upstairs, expecting to see their mom and dad sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee, but it wasn't anything like that. His Nana was sitting at their table, he could see the tear stains on her fair cheeks, she reminded him of Aries. Although she was almost 70, she and Aries had the same shine in their eyes. That shine of youth and happiness, although they never fully showed it. Aries shine had died, and it was still in her, waiting to be released and opened up again. "It wasn't all a dream was it?" He asked knowing the answer already. His Nana got up from the table and gave him a tight hug. He just stood there. Limp, unable to reach his arms up and give her a hug back. He had lost all the feeling. "Come on, I'll drive you over to see her." Jesse couldn't beleive anything. He wished he could go back in time and save her, unlock that door just a little sooner, apologized before it became anything, or even told her that he was starting to like Kelsey. He was dreading the drive to the funeral home. He had only been to one once in his life and it was for is great grama when him and Aries were in the third grade. He didnt't really understand what had happened, but now it was going to be even harder to understand. Jesse was confused when his Nana drove passed the funeral home.
