haha congrats for being ungrounded! and about the sucky parental unit, well it HASN'T changed. my parents are mexican where my father worked and my mother stayed at home. my culture is slightly different than others and women sometimes think they have no choice but to put up with everything, so that's how it has been at my home. although i'm glad that things are changing now. i would never stay in a relationship where i'm abused and not happy.
