City Life

You know what sucks about leaving an actual city to come to "Saginaw: The City Where Fun Comes To Die"? Everything. I'm being hard on the city of course, but wouldn't you? The "outstanding feature" of the city is the horizon. It's a nice place to catch up on your sleep. You know another reason why normal people shouldn't live here? It gets really, really cold here. Ever heard of exposure and hypothermia? I just don't feel comfortable in a place where you can die just by going out to the mailbox. This is a city where an open window can cause death. I could have gone to school in the south, but that was never an option. They have way too much respect for authority down there, and I would go nuts. My roommate told me that I've been too hard on the city because I come from Detroit. I just have a problem with the city of Saginaw because they don't have a common experience, and think they're far enough north so that they're detached in a "cute" sort of way, but all that does is it makes them incredibly boring to talk to. Everything around here is "soft and loose", everything in Detroit is "hard and concentrated". People don't like cities like Detroit because even though we lack a lot of things, we have energy, and if you can't handle it, stay the fuck out. Living in that city is a character builder. You must know who you are, what you're doing, where you're going, and how to get there. No bullshit allowed. People living in cities like Detroit and New York are tough. Everyone else is varying degrees of soft. I don't hate people who don't live in the cities, just a select few. Because cities are so busy, some people can't handle it, and end up back in Six-Toe, Arkansas badmouthing a city they lived in for two years. Usually, the people who badmouth big cities are people who have never been there, and are jealous because that's where all the action happens. Not in Washington, not from politicans, it from people who live/work in the city. After reading this, some people might ask me if I hate Saginaw so much, why do I live here? Because I love an overcast sky, and from my spot in the building, the sun goes away at 1 in the afternoon. HOMER: "To alcohol! The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems!"

I loved the entry and we don't live in Detroit. We live in Warren ... Well, I live in Warren, you might live in Center Line. I would rather live in the country far away from people, but for now, the city is just fine. I would like to clarify that we are a ways from Detroit and we don't live there, we live near there. God, I hate when people say I live in Detroit, when they don't ... there's my point of view ...
