this is the end of the innocence

Yesterday, Nikki had a "birthday party" at the flea market. It wasn't really a party, just a gathering of all the people she loved--her mom, Deirdre, Kati, Luke, and me. I went and got my haircut first so Deirdre and Nikki could have some quality time. The lady was new, and she did a really good job. Her hair was purple! So anyway, I got to M9, and found Anna (Nikki's mom) sitting there all by herself. So I asked her where Deirdre and Nikki were, and she said they were walking around the flea market with Luke. So we chatted for a couple of minutes, and then Deirdre, Nikki, and Luke returned. Deirdre was like nothing I had expected. She was tall, and quite gorgeous. But even though she was nice to me, she was really quiet and didn't say much to be the entire time, even though earlier, she had gone on about how excited she was about coming down, and had said she wanted to meet me, but oh, well. Nikki and Luke went to get coffee, and then Kati showed up, and that's when things started to get awkward, because Deirdre and Kati double-teamed Nikki and picked on her like mad. I could tell Nikki knew they were kidding, but it still bothered her. It was like they showed up for Nikki's special day to not pay attention to her at all. I mean, they paid attention to her, but it was like they were more interested in each other. Another thing--Deirdre and Kati wouldn't shut up about how attractive Luke is, particularly his butt. It was funny. They were shameless, man. So the end result was that I had good, though terribly awkard, time. I think if Kati hadn't come (but how mean would that be?), Deirdre would've paid loads more attention to Nikki and would've actually talked to me. Oh, well, I guess next time, it'll be just me, Nikki, and Luke, and it'll be back to the way it usually is. Today is Nikki's actual birthday. Whee! Happy birthday, Best! I luv you! Oh, and I got my Madisonville pictures back. I need a scanner so I can make a page for them. Oh, well. I have to sing with Heidi in church tonight. Wish me luck.
