Is it just another four letter word popularly used by the members of society, or is there really something more to the meaning? Or is it that it’s not a word at all but a higher meaning which connects those in life together by one simple breath? Sara Paddison from the Hidden Power of the Heart once quoted that “You'll discover that real love is millions of miles past falling in love with anyone or anything. When you make that one effort to feel compassion instead of blame or self-blame, the heart opens again and continues opening.” Love cannot be defined by anything; it’s all in another’s perspective. Love is a simple yet complicated act completed by one towards another thing and also the underlying essence of human life. Love in the dictionary is defined as a deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person or an intense emotional attachment, as for a pet or treasured object., such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness and a feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person with whom one is disposed to make a pair; the emotion of sex and romance. I believe that love is a surrender of ones self to another fulfilling ones desires as well as theirs; an on going pain you feel each day; from the beginning of loving someone till the end and far more after. Love isn’t easy, yet is one of the actions most widely used by people today. Love has also been turned into an emotional crutch which one feeds off. Franklin P. Jones once said that, “Love doesn't make the world go 'round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.” Love is widely abused by many, and securely used by those who abuse the privilege. Love is not a feeling, nor emotion, but many mixed in one completed with a strong desire. Leo Buscaglia quoted that “Perfect love is rare indeed - for to be a lover will require that you continually have the subtlety of the very wise, the flexibility of the child, the sensitivity of the artist, the understanding of the philosopher, the acceptance of the saint, the tolerance of the scholar and the fortitude of the certain.” All the simple acts of life, passion, kindness, desire, wholeness, beauty, and tenderness, possess love. For how can someone love without possessing an awareness of any other action? Love is completed with action, an expression of our contained beauty. Love also cannot be absolute without the worst of human’s feelings. Maureen Duffy said that, “The pain of love is the pain of being alive. It is a perpetual wound.” Depression, anger, sadness, pain, all the crushing potentials in life end and begin with love. For how can one begin to show or feel those thing if they have not felt love? Love doesn’t make everything pleasurable, nor does it fix the human life. Yet everyone craves for it, thinking it will. Love is for those who fall behind and those who can’t catch up are the ones who end up hurt and destroyed. Is love just another four letter word? No its not, nor is it just an emotion that humans can say they feel, for one can’t fall in love, because it isn’t an emotion, it’s an action we give and receive. One who is haunted by love has been touched, whether by God or another, and they will never be the same. Go out and spread love, for anything in life, even for the love of life itself. Sir Hugh Walpoe wrote that “The most wonderful of all things in life, I believe, is the discovery of another human being with whom one's relationship has a glowing depth, beauty, and joy as the years increase. This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvelous thing, it cannot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is a sort of Divine accident.” Love is not automatic; it takes conscious practice and awareness, just like playing the piano or golf. However, you have ample opportunities to practice. Everyone you meet can be your practice session. In the end, fulfill your desired intentions; better to never forget that love isn’t a four letter word, or an emotion but an action of the human soul.
