Listening to: Making Memories Of Us - Keith Urban
Feeling: good
My first day at work went great. It was boring though. All I did was watch movies about customer service and being a parts specialist and then I messed around on their electronic catalog and got familiar with it. Then the assistant manager took me on a tour of the building and explained to me what's expected of me by working there.
I look up to Cora. She's one of my assistant managers. She just got married three days ago and she practically knows everything about cars and parts and what goes with what. I was amazed. Sometimes she lost me in conversation because I couldn't figure out what she was talking about. I think I'm going to like working there. A little intimidating, but, I'll be like that soon enough. As long as I stick with working at O'Reilly's.
My schedule during the week is 3:30 to 9. Yes, I get off at 9. I was a little surpised. Jim told me he scheduled me like that so I would have enough time to get home and get enough sleep for school. He must have kids. But actually, that gives me about an hour and a half before I have to be home. My schedule on the weekends varies. Like this Saturday I work 10 to 7. That's a 9 hour shift. Blah. But he said it'll go by quick. We'll be really busy.
So this week, I'm already pulling in 25 hours. That's damn good. And we get paid lunches. And we get an hour for lunch. Yeah. I'm going to like this.
I'm off tomorrow though. I guess that's a good thing.
I've got a lot of pressure on me right now. Right now, I have a 71 semester average in Government. I have a TEKS test today in that class and then a major project coming up. Right now, I have an 86 six weeks average. I have to keep my six weeks average above an 80 and I have to pass my final exam with a 75 or above. Blah. Same thing with Algebra. I have to keep my average above an 80 and I have to make an 75 or above on the final to graduate. Plus I have a major grade due in English today that will hopefully bring my grade up above an 80. Goddamn I hate this shit. I can't wait for it to all be over with. 13 more days for us Seniors.
I didn't get to see Jeff last night until 10. He was busy working on his car that broke down on him once he got off work. We spent a little time together. At least we got to see each other. He said he might come up to work tonight and see me and take me out for my lunch. If not, he said he'll definitely see me at 9 once I get off work. I miss him already.
Well, this is an update. A long one at that.
