It all starts here

Holy hell, this weekend has been insane.

The Western Canadian Music Awards festival (which has been renamed BreakOut West) was going on this weekend. I got an all access pass due to a volunteer gig I'm doing tomorrow night with the Economic Development Commission here in Kelowna in connection with my business program.

Last night I saw a band called Seventh Rain (google them, check them out, they're incredible) and rocked out hard. It was crazy. I helped them pack up and got to know them a bunch before heading off for the night.

Tonight I saw them again, and they loved seeing me again. At first there was nobody dancing at all to their setlist, but then I hopped on the dance floor and let loose all alone for like a song and a half. Then I went offstage, grabbed a cute little blonde girl and insisted she come dance. From there on out, slowly but surely, everybody started getting closer to the stage and dancing. Before the end of their set, we had pretty much everybody in the whole venue right there rocking out. It was incredible, the band loved it.

Afterwards I spoke with them, and got to know them even better, and it all just cascaded from there. They're all amazing guys, and we went back to their hotel room with a few of their friends to chill out and such.

I met a friend of theirs, Tessa, who has been a band promoter in Vancouver for the last 4 years. She just recently moved here and was looking to migrate her business to Kelowna as well. The thing is, she didn't have any local connection... so now her and I have connected and we're going to work together. I have connections with the local band scene and I know the area, and she's got the business experience and framework. Her and I sat outside Seventh Rain's hotel room and talked for like an hour about business, and everything we could to together. She's got some amazing ideas, and after hearing what she's done in Vancouver, she definitely got the knowhow to pull it off.

I've wanted to get into the music industry as a promoter or a PR agent for a while. This is the start of it all. This is my ground floor operation, this is where it all starts.

Honestly I can't go into too much detail because there simply isn't any, but I see the potential here. Watch this space, shit is going to happen soon.

Also, a few other items of note that are worth mentioning:

I've given up on Holly. If she's not willing to work her schedule around a single dinner, then screw it. Not somebody I'm willing to put any more effort into.

Midterms went well, I'm looking forward to seeing my marks.

Dinner with another hot babe in a few weeks, once she gets back from her business trip to Vernon. I've known Whitney since her and I worked at the Mule together, and she's a genuinely good chick. And she's got her shit together too. To top it all off, she was super enthusiastic about my suggestion of dinner. Definitely looking forward to that.

Bah, I'm in pain from all the rocking out I did at the Seventh Rain show. I'm signing off.
