Listening to: rush 2112
i do some of my best thinking at a coffee shop
i used to have a handfull of shops i loved to visit back home
one was the bourgeois pig
located on franklin ave just north of hollywood bld
inside was shaped like a T
the area leading up the bar has couches and easy chairs on both side
internet ports all over
the coffee bar was just that, a bar
further down a pool table
to the right an arabic style room with appropriate attire
couches on all sides
drapery string down
small cushions to sit on in the middle
dim lit
this placed is the shit
.............................
toi tai is a bitchen tai food place on hollywood too
rock and roll atmosphere
great tai food
open till four in the am
great place to sober up at
.............................
3clubs is the club big daddy spins at twice a week
micha and i used to escort his wife to the club
we'd meet her at her coffee shop in glendora
follow her to her house
drop off her car
she'd sit in back of micha's car
frank sinatra on
she would hit my cig occasionaly
thats when i could tell her day was long
she would take one maybe two hits
it relaxed her
always entering through the back of the club
it was machine like
walk up to dj booth
give hugs to the posh
shake hands with the bouncers with a pat on the shoulder
free drinks all night, everynight
'hey can we hang with you guys?'
'no'
i said no a lot
it was a high
then i'd get high
two lines in a mens restroom in hollywood
the one for the urinal
and the other to the stall for a line
i must have heard that snort a thousand fucking times
then that pause
they would leave
i'd go in
one bump off my key for each nostril
thats better
gin and tonic for me
jack and coke for micha
seven and seven for big daddy
after hours at the bar
this is where the underbelly of hollywood is pinkest
ripe to slice open
stacks of cash being counted
drinks being emptied and filled
real after hours shit
random tv faces
pack up the equipment and we are out
micha and i are gone
six am maybe?
..............................
canter's is an eatery in the heart of the city
open all the time
its past is rich with color
everyone who was someone up until ten or so years ago went there
tabloids and shit
you know
still popular
best place to get sober in the city
i met ron jeremy there
i have his autograph on my wall
only 'big name' signature i have ever asked for
...............................
i miss that town
this show was my amis;
Locally based but nationally appreciated.
I am one of those people.
