HEY EVERYONE!! READ THIS! This is Nicole's Live Journal entry, I think it's important. "I started a fundraiser last night. You see, my sister (Doni) is a tribal police officer in Mt. Pleasant, and I am trying to get donations for her department. They are sending down officers in two week rotations to New Orleans, and they have to take all their own food, drinking water, riot gear, swat stuff, ammo, clothes, solar showers, chairs to sit on, and everything. The department is covering the cost for all this, including gas money and meals on the way down there. The first shift of four guys left on sunday, and my mom and Doni were there to see them off. My mom said these big burly cops were crying as they hugged their wives and kids goodbye. Once they're down there, we'll have no contact with them till they're on the way back. Two weeks with your family in a dangerous situation...and my sister is one of the officers going in the next rotations. If any of you guys have extra bottled water lying around your room...or even like, three dollars and I'll go buy the water, let me know. I'll pick it up...the next shift leaves in two weeks, and I really really need help with this. So do they. I mean, this is my older sister that's going. She's leaving James with Brad for two weeks, leaving her in-progress house, leaving everything to go down there to restore peace and calm." So guys, I'm going to Wal-Mart or Glen's to buy some cases of water. Just thought I'd pass the word and get some other people to help. PS. Don't forget about the fundraiser at school either, whatever we give SADD, Student Council will match, which is awesome, so let's do something for someone other than ourselves (face it, we're all selfish creatures) and help out the people who lost everything but their lives.
