Where I'm From

Feeling: achy
Where I’m From By Brittany Lankford I am from summers, From Saturday morning cartoons and soccer game. I am from late night video games and Stargate marathons, The smell of popcorn and taste of chocolate milk. I am backyard football and kickball in the streets, Back when we were so young, I wish we were back together again. I am from cat toys and pancakes, From “When I was your age.” And “Remember when’s?” I am a mini Wade and MeMe’s little girl, Daddy’s music and Mom’s homemade cookies. I am from Sunday evening cookouts, Croquet and hot dogs, Those were the days. I am from summer weekends at Granny’s house, Vanilla ice cream and Kool-Aid, Cooling down those hot days. From Dad’s old baseball caps and Mom’s books, The one’s she could read in days, Jake and I thought that was strange. From front porch swings and rainy days, Fresh cut grass and board games, My how things have changed. I am from third shelf photo albums, Black, white, and color reminders of my past, Best shown in those old photographs. From video tapes of the days, When life was easy and free, Those are the things that remind me where I’m from.
