Previously: A police chase ends with the suspect crashing into a utility pole early Tuesday morning. It happened around 1:30 at the intersection of Washington and Boeke in Evansville. Evansville police tell us it began with an officer trying to stop this car near Highway 41 and Lincoln Avenue, but the driver sped away. A few blocks later, the driver loses control of the car and crashes into a pole. After being cut free from the wreckage, the man was taken to St. Mary's hospital. His name has not yet been released but his injuries don't appear to be serious. Evansville police say they believe alcohol may have been involved. UPDATE, 8:45 AM MON: We now know the name of the Evansville man involved in an overnight police chase and crash. It happened around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Washington and Boeke in Evansville. Police tell us it began with an officer trying to stop a car near Highway 41 and Lincoln Avenue, but the driver, 44-year-old Frederick Pruiett, sped away. A few blocks later, Pruiett loses control of the car and crashes into a pole. Police say Pruiett is charged with resisting law enforcement officers, failure to yield right of way, disregarding an automatic signal, and DUI. Authorities say his blood alcohol level was .278. They also say the car was not registered to him, but it wasn't stolen. Police aren't sure how he ended up driving it. He is being held without bond.
